Corona Virus Concerns

I think the government have at last realised that unless we get the country back to working normally as soon as possible, then we will all be suffering some very serious economic problems, which is likely to adversely affect everybody, not just the older generation.

I think the biggest problem we have at the moment is in the care homes. I don't see that getting people back to work will make the situation in the care homes any worse. As long as people stay alert with social distancing etc. I think getting back to work is the lesser of the two evils.

The pictures and events at DURDLE DOOR () were horrific and reflect what, in my opinion is the idiocy of the way the lockdown has been eased in England.
Not quite sure why you single out teachers (presumably you mean primary school teachers) for criticism, though, F, I'd have thought in your book it was more generally the English City Folk!

I doubt very much the blame for tombstoners can be laid at the feet of Govt🤷🏻♂️

The examples of tombstoning and it happened again the following day from the same place! Shows that common sense isn't common 🤔. Though it cant be laid at the governments door. Chap who owns the estate said hes put up fences and signs over the years they just get torn down. Ok so go ahead but DON'T expect others to put their lives at risk to sort you out or that help you get if free 😤. Paddleboarder who helped get the one from the seabed gave a frightening account and says hes still re-living it.
Since its only years 1 and 6 who can return to school and no compulsion on the parents - does it matter if the kids haven't gone? Teachers will be there regardless, that's what they do!
Friend's 5 year old granddaughter has school 1 day a week, Tuesday, she has a vunerable daddy and must return from school, undress completely clothes in for a full wash, shower and hairwash before she can say hello to him 😱. Is it worth it?? Don't think mum's decided yet but in suspect she won't go.
Brue I hope you're feeling better. It's not nice to have the mildest of symptoms for anything at the moment!

As for tombstoners and their ilk, one wonders whether we should let natural selection operate.

Agree, absolutely not - the blame lies solely with those fools who thought it would be a "common sense, cool" thing to do.
My reference to the easing of the lockdown was to do with the number of people who flocked there and, presumably to other similar spots. Did you see the pictures of the continuous line of people taking the path to Durdle Door? It beggars belief that so many folk are prepared to take the risk.

Tombstoners die every year, as do lots of others egged on for that “must have” YouTube video or Faceache moment. I couldn’t believe the crowds on the beach to be honest. Two rescue helicopters as well. ☹️
Not sure of this will be of any help to others, but I get regular updates from our local police force, and the latest message gives the official numbers to use if you get a call from the Test and Trace service. I think they are expecting some low lives to target vulnerable people who might be easy to trick into following certain links and advice that isn’t official, with a view to extorting money from them. I won’t post a link, but it does advise passing the numbers on to family and friends who can then check if the contact is official. Best for folks to check out their own local force website.

Natural selection works in some who think it won't happen to them. I can honestly say that having got a bad cold etc just now the first thought was about OH and my children and what it would be like being carted off to hospital on my own....! Don't let down your guard, by the way I haven't been near anyone since lock down, where do these viruses come from?! Take care everyone.

Not strictly true, the children of key workers will also be in school. My 3 Gk's have been going to school since this kicked off, no problems

But this was the same in hundreds of honey spots throughout the country involving millions of people.
Living by the coast i have seen 1st hand just how many people have been visiting the beach daily since lock down began, people from all over Hampshire and probably beyond, and yet, infected cases has not risen, ok it is not coming down as quickly as we would like, but remember we are doing 250,000 tests now so more people in the asymptomatic range are being identified. We will not see the results of this past weekend for a couple of weeks, fingers crossed.

Well, let's not worry any more then - full steam ahead. You seem considerably more relaxed now about all those crowds than you did a couple of weeks ago!
250000 tests really? - 128437 yesterday according to this evenings briefing and 206000 apparently available.
Yes, it's good news that we seem to be getting the virus under control and God forbid that we should see a sudden surge, but we certainly won't be visiting Durdle Door or the like any time soon.

Did you know , the owner of the Lulworth estate opened the carparks despite the police and council closing all the roads, then announced on social media that the car parks were open.
Why would he do that you may ask, he says it was to ease the traffic through the villages etc, not about the £8 per car for 6 hours parking his estate charges!
After Saturdays incidents he opened the carparks at 0600 before the council and police had time to close the roads which then saw a repeat of Saturdays overcrowding and stupidity of tombstoning. who cares who gets injured, dies or gets the virus
James Weld makes money (like father like son.)

Rajoho that's interesting to read. On the news when interviewed he said carparks were opened to stop vehicles being parked on the approach roads thus not allowing room for emergency vehicles. 🤔
We've done it twice that was sufficient and we certainly won't be going again anytime soon. One way up and down so impossible to social distance entering or exiting the beach - without needing to be herded for an emergency.
Maybe he speak with fork tongue re fences and signs about tombstoning and cliffs 🤐

' more people in the asymptomatic range are being identified'
How does that work then, you only get tested if you have symptoms.
If you are asymptomatic you will not know you have it so no need to get tested so unknowingly shed the disease onto the unsuspecting.
This hasn't changed since day 1, stand by for a second spike ( I hope not)

Can someone explain this different testing going on. My son was randomly tested 2 weeks ago and got the result about a week later. It said " on the day of testing you had no Coronovirus".What use was that as he may have had it meantime with no symptoms or test.

Yes i am, but i was very worried, but my worst fears have not come to fruition, thankfully

The one test is to check if you have the Virus at the time of the test, this is the same test that has been used since mid March.
You are correct in that 5 minutes after leaving the test centre you could then contract the virus, hence some people have been tested more than once.
The second test, which is only recently been added to the arsenal and can be bought online from the manufacturers for around £70 I believe, is to see if you have had the virus previously and have built up an immunity to the virus.
The problem with this, is that it is unknown how long an immunity will last or if it is a total defence or, reduces the effect if getting the virus a second or third time.
but if we all keep our distance, wash hands and use alcohol gel no matter what bumf we are told then hopefully we will not need the tests.
