Thetford fridge in Swift

I have a 2011 Swift Challenger with a Thetford N112 fridge which has developed a problem. Last year when we were on a site without electricity it stopped working on gas.  However this year it won't work on electric either and is displaying code 8.  All being well it is booked into the dealers on the 3rd of June to be repaired.  My problem is I would like to turn it off so that I can sit in the caravan and listen to the radio and use the plug sockets but it won't turn off,  on the fridge itself , I have pulled the 2 fuses out of the powers supply unit and another fuse under the seat in the front of the caravan but the display is still flashing.  The only thing that works is to turn off the power supply unit which then turns off the plug sockets too.  Any ideas?

If it does not work on electric, then even if it looks to be on, it will not be using any power, so does it matter?

Generally, if the fridge is deprived of  a 12v  supply, it will not work at all, not even the display, so that could be something to try.

For mains power, ours is powered from a socket in a space adjacent to the fridge, have you looked to see if it is plugged  in anywhere you can get to?

I have a 2012 Challenger and had the same problem.

Fortunately I was due a service by a mobile engineer and he simply took off the outside fridge vent, uncoupled the main lead, left it for a minute and then reconnected it. As he said caravans are just like a computer these days and get confused so just turn them off and then back on again.

    Hope it works for you
