The local authority will advise and monitor if you are able to prove measures are in place-hence the nudge by the First Minister.. Is that not so in England, you just get on with it. Consensus, preparation and relaxation is the way we do things here.

That DK is a very good reply and sums up I am sure what a good few posters are trying to do. Someone’s post may be made trying to be above party politics, but is interpreted incorrectly and gets removed or is wilfully misunderstood and reported. We are living through exceptional times, and being able to share things, even if one might not agree with all the sentiments, is a good thing. Those unwilling to engage don’t have to, there’s lots of other stuff to read and enjoy. 👍

That’s a very good point about sharing, TDA. In these times of lockdown and isolation, we need to be able to communicate with others and share our feelings. It’s playing a part in maintaining good mental health. 👍🏻

According to the papers, a number of medics have said the relaxation is too early. I get the impression that HM Gov is trying to walk the tightrope between economic and physical damage. I feel sure that the latest measures will come at a human cost. The judgement of whether it is at an acceptable level will come later.

The thing that people forget is that just because the Gov tell us we can go out and meet up ,we don’t have to , we should make up our own minds as to wether the risk is worth the trip and not have the sheep instinct, just because others go out we don’t have to ,don’t be afraid of telling family and friends you’d rather not meet up just yet

Huskydog I couldn't agree with you more. I'm grown up enough to make my own mind up, can't always remember the decision 😉😂, and I'll treat it like the rest of my life - deciding if it's right for me and mine.
Don't see our offspring that often, one every couple of years 🤣 and it'll be a long time before we get on a 27 hour flight again - would have already been if OH hadn't been poorly last year. I reckon we'd have been there for their lockdown and still would be if we could have travelled but got their weather and not heading into winter here 😉 and I wouldn't dream of asking them too yet either! Son will come when he can or we can go to them, meanwhile it's back to FaceTime, Skype etc.
I must admit for those used to caring/visiting for offspring and grandchildren it must be tough. I know how we feel on our return from NZ but we've never known any different.
I make decisions about eating, drinking, tablet taking, alcohol, driving, overtaking etc etc this is no different and the travel as far as you like means I could without being outside guidelines!

Yes very good, but I dont understand how they can get away with all that was said, when Emiliy Maites is being slated for comments made on news night, which i did not watch, but were reported in the press , which seemd quite innocuous in the grand scheme of things
however, to devote almost all of the programme to just one topic i thought was not great and Ian Hislop was clearly incensed by the whole affair. Move on DC is now old news....we should not be taking our eye of the current problem, which will bite us in the bum if we are not careful.

Rufus-Dont read and take all news as Gospel. We may be far from perfect but we can live with it. Best lockdown story yet. A plonker from Surrey flew to Anglesey to go to the Beach. Dont know who fined him the police or Civil Aviation Authority!. Little airport thought it was an emergency landing.

It was very entertaining to watch, a release valve.
I watched Emily Maitlis too, it was similar. Both programmes reflected public unease. I'm glad moving on was jokingly mentioned last night in this context.

Yes , but long before the DC example was held up to the world as a non example, certainly in our area people were flocking to the beaches, our local slip way, now closed, was awash with people on jet skis and you could hardly get a cigarette paper between them. Wrong of DC but the whole episode was staged managed.

I'm not bothered about what the world thinks and I'm sure the world had no interest in DC. He'll be gone at some point and we'll still be trying to sort the effects of this crisis. The people who have stuck to the rules are the ones I admire.

A huge plus one. Having a vunerable one and not being one myself has been tough and will tougher still if we get a big second wave because of folk not following the guidelines. That's what makes me VERY ANGRY. It's now day 75 for us, I've popped out for sanity walks very early or late and himself had a trip in the car to collect puppy, within the relaxation of the guidelines, and a stare at our son. No toilet stops no fuel filling etc for the journey. Completely self contained with masks and gloves just in case. Was glad that could be done within days of easing as we wouldn't risk it now. He's very much upbeat and what will be will be, but not going to meet trouble head on.

It was a TV programme. Rehearsed and cut, passed by the BBC solicitors. It was a good funny programme, with Hislop playing to the camera. He has to do something to justify his £20K episode fee. The others also did their but for a comedy show. What it shows is the story is not going away as Boris hopes.

Rufs, with respect, it's been interesting to see how your posts have changed pre and post Cummings.
Before it was all about crowds flocking to your part of the world, you even posted pictures of those naughty visitors disturbing your solitude.
After it's been all "things are not so bad we haven't had any huge influx" etc, etc.

Perhaps a sign of things to come. The National Trust are going to open some of their gardens and parkland from the 3rd June. The numbers will be restricted and only toilets will be open, not even any outside take aways. All spaces are apparently fully booked to the following Sunday. They certainly are for the two closest to us, Clumber and Hardwick. The NT plan to release a fresh weeks worth every Friday. Apparently as they are a charity they are not able to give those who have supported them any sort of priority. Therefore non members willing to pay have an equal chance.

It's called satire!!! Like B2 I thought it very funny especially that Ian was "very cross" about the whole situation!!! Even when they have had politicians on Have I got News for You they get a real ribbing and they go up in my estimation a little as result. I am a regular watcher of Newsnight and that, of course, is a serious and hard hitting news programme. Emily took no prisoners in her introduction so probably the reason for the unease from the BBC bosses. I suspect that DC is not old news as its had such an impact on what the Government is trying to achieve and its credibility so I think it will rumble on for months yet especially if infections start to increase which hopefully they won't.

I understand the BBC have recieved 40,000 "complaints?" that Newsnights introduction by emily was not the "impartial?"bbc that is expected
so it seems a few in the UK are still not in the real world,And Ian Hislop did also in his much appreciated by most "rant" did mention some things that have been "overlooked?" by some
