Corona Virus Concerns

As you have chosen to make it personal BB, all I can say in my defence is that I simply don’t have a brand of politics. No one can know how I choose to vote, or for which particular party, simply because I don’t.
I have no allegiance or membership to any of them, but will do a lot of reading, a lot of listening, and a good deal of research before I commit my precious vote to anything. Eventually I will form an opinion on which policies and ways forward I think will be best for me, my loved ones, and society in general. I am that person who has to be persuaded, won over, and in return I expect much. It’s as simple as that. Hence at times I feel a certain despair when things go so badly wrong, and there is no avenue left for discussion.🤷♀️

Yes and from me as well bells. I want to book a dental check up ASAP, no issues, but it is something that I like to keep up to date. Anything optical or dental involves close proximity work, so thoughts are with you.😁

There are certainly some higher outbreaks in various places. Looking at the numbers by actual named parts, some of S Wales has had a continuous problem. I'm hoping people won't think "I'll go to the area that's least infected for a day out etc." A great amount of caution is needed in the coming weeks. People have still got to be shielded too.

Good luck thebells do let us know how you get on. I had a cataract OP a year ago, not happy with new varifocals from February, I usually wear contact lenses so need to discuss the situation as glasses make me feel seasick! Worn varificals and bifocal lenses for years.
Had a communication from our dentist today, they are Denplan and have been doing emergency work throughout over 250 they said in their last email. They were surprised at being open from 8 June and are working out the 'how to' now. Our appointments are always booked 6 months in advance, we have the pleasure of 3 monthly checks 😂 so hopefully well get a check before too long.
Good luck folks with appointments - I'm looking forward to the hairdresser scrum 😱. My hairdresser's fb page has asked for names to add to the list together with your availability and what you'd like done in an effort to plan and sort for the best. She and her girls 😉 are all young mums working part time but cover lots of hours including evenings so fingers crossed I'll get at least one cut and some highlights by Christmas 🤣🤣🤣

Bakers2- Here in wales the first minister talked about what next will be relaxed specifying to businesses they should be using the next 3 weeks to prepare, not like England where changes seem to be made on the hoof with little preparation time.

Personally I think the lifting of some of the lockdown measures are too soon , the drive as far as you like is just plain stupid, me , I just shop as little as I can ,we have booked to go away in September, but if I don’t think it is safe then we won’t go , it’s no good just having spacing on the site ,but what about the shops and visitor attractions that people visit ,how safe are they even if they are open

Hey, I'm sure I said this a while back but was shot down. Thanks for the intervention Ro

Don't you think that all services/businesses have had 10 weeks already to think about how they will work once allowed to open and how to put measures in place? I know that hairdressers and certain retailers certainly have. Plenty of preparation time for the forward thinking companies.

"the drive as far as you like is just plain stupid"
I agree, and have made the same point many times (but been shot down ) - it defeats me how it can be described as a "baby step" but I think the rationale behind the move has become clearer just lately!

Hi DK
So, you encourage people to be apolitical as possible yet still let pages of political debate take place. I've requested this to stop before and was shot down, I've reported posts with no result. Rowena has stepped in to remind folk of the community guidelines. What's so difficult? To me, major moderation means removing posts and maybe posters, so be it, do it.
The tail doesn't wag the dog.
I'll report my own post as I've broken our social media policy.

Hang on JK, I'm one of the posters who doesn't like overtly political posts but it's a fact of life just now that we are dependent on political manoeuvres to get us through this crisis. So comments are inevitable and if they get heated they are removed. Good to see apologies too. Incidentally we've had far worse in the past and most of us recognise the posts which overstep the mark, it's the temptation to reply which can make things worse.

As i posted earlier ,i have recd an email in answer to some i had sent (one being travel distances ) and was shown by the support for DC by some ,and this i pointed out , was going to blow a hole in all the previous work done to reduce the lock down "advise?" by every one ,including DC who sat in on the sage meetings

Agreed - I made the point much earlier that although there were clearly differing views expressed it had all been very respectful and tolerant. It's only very recently that the disagreements have become heated and asking for folk to stop expressing a particular viewpoint whilst carrying on expressing the opposite hasn't helped.
I don't think there have been any overtly party political posts, just views, sometimes very critical, about the present situation and the way it has been handled. And that is hardly surprising given the huge implications of those decisions on our chosen life style.

We've seen on local TV discussions and reports about holidaying here in the SW. One medical opinion suggested our rates are low due to being out of the holiday season earlier on but the threat of many people arriving for holidays will probably produce a spike in cases.

Questioning moderation is no-no JK🤷🏻♂️. I take it that not having any territory to stomp around on is telling on the nerves, don’t worry your authority will return👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Same with The Fraser Group, as daughter has been setting up some of their shops local to her home for the last couple of weeks.

Hopefully I crafted the reply that you quoted carefully. Posts that have crossed the line have been Deleted User. As a moderator I don't see reported posts so don't have any knowledge of the ones you refer to therefore I can't make a judgement. I can only take a view when I read through the posts. If someone is being partisan in the way they post that would arouse my attention. There are also nearly 3000 posts in this discussion and in the best will in the world I expect I don't read everyone! However we do have to accept that we are living in exceptional times and personally I think we have to be careful not to be too heavy handed on this subject as its beyond the normal definition of political. The alternative is to ban any reference to COVID 19 and how things have been handled? The easy option is to close this thread but I am not sure that would be fair to the many who have grave concerns about all aspects of this issue?

Some businesses have been excellent in coming to terms with putting in place safety measures for customers and staff, and not just large ones. When I have had no option I have been inside the odd shop and on the whole been impressed with how things are organised, staffed and managed. I tend to pick my places, have an initial look at how things are organised, and make a decision from there. Personally, we don’t feel the need to shop instore for very much at all, so our preferences will remain online for the foreseeable future. We don’t go in for much in the way of retail therapy, so it won’t be a big thing for us giving up shopping. Our concerns are more around things like dental check ups, vets, opticians. But sure these will get organised as best they can. Looks like my short hair style might be short lived😁 OH gets a tuppenny all off via some home clippers😂
