Towing law, max trailer length.
I came came across a post on Facebook this morning from the Police Service N Ireland, link attached, https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/towing-safety-information-0. It stated that the maximum towing length of a trailer is 7 metres. Most vans like ours are over 7 metres. I have never seen this limit before and I have been towing for many years.
Is it correct, if so then many of us are breaking the law and could find our insurance invalid.
Can I get some feed back please.

Do you really think caravan manufacturers would be making and dealers selling thousands of illegal caravans over the years?! Or the Police would not have addressed the hundreds of ‘illegal’ such outfits on the roads every weekend in summer? I suspect MM is correct.
posted same time as MM!

Taken from google.
The internal length is the total length of an empty shell without any furniture or appliances installed but excludes the front locker (if there is one). The external length also known as the shipping length is the internal length plus the 'A' frame and hitch.
