Scottish lockdown “border control”

I saw this on another , sailing , forum

“”Police Scotland are turning back caravans on the M74 and - I believe - giving any who make it along the A75 to Dumfries the chance to spend one night in the Tesco car park there and then head south again ... or else.“”

Does anyone know if this is true? I don’t suppose anyone on here would be that foolish? Wild camping doesn’t include car parks or lay-by or caravans anyway😁, so where did they think they would pitch?

Perhaps the control should have been nearer Doncaster.

I'm a bit surprised that Boris hasn't suggested rebuilding Offa's Dyke - and making the Welsh pay for it!  surprised

As far as I am aware, during normal times, there is not an exclusion of caravans for wild camping in scotland. In my opinion all forms of wild camping in scotland should be made illegal anyway! If it were not for the income produced from tourism I would also ban all visitors from other countries who were not using hotels, guesthouses and bed and breakfast !tongue-out

It is illegal to wild camp in Scotland using any form of motorised transport, ie. Motorhomes, campervans, caravans or motorbikes. Wild camping is lightweight camping on foot, bicycle etc.

If that is the case how come so many people do and get away with it  !!!I would instance the pass up to Wanlockhead,A lot in the Galloway Forest,The Isle of Whithorn, all around the infamouse NC500 etc.etc.I know they have clamped down around Loch Lomond but that is about all!

What on earth are you talking about?Scotland would not survive without the handouts from england and we have already voted not to be independant and wee nippy is living on another planet if she thinks that we could ever join the e.u.(if it survives).and further more if we put in place a border where would all the english tourists go to marvel at the scenery!

Hadrian's wall will need a few more courses on it, and the gates welded shut, That should then suffice as a border that would keep the EU happy. unlike the current one to the west of Wales

"Wild camping is lightweight camping on foot, bicycle etc."

Yes it always makes me smile when folk talk about "basics" or wild camping involving multi thousand pound outfits with central heating, electric ovens, microwaves, TV, showers etc etc as if they're "getting back to nature". Bear Ghrylls it most definitely ain't!  laughing

I suppose that, if I really wanted to, I could sneak out of Wales the 4 miles or so to England. laughing

Less chance of making the 26 miles into my daughters place in Rhyl though to pick up our carpet cleaner that she borrowed the weekend before lock down undecided
