Is it possible to do the scottish 500 towing a caravan ? Ive heard it isn't possible on parts of the route as the roads can be either too steep or too twisty, if anyone can let me know of any potential pitfalls of towing I'd appreciate it.

We are thinking of doing it next May but are also thinking of hiring a motorhome to do it if its not possible touring.

Most of it is very doable, HA. Check out the numerous other threads on the same subject.

Been round the coast there 3 times, with caravan, before it became so popular.

Some steep roads are to be avoided with van behind, but those bits can be  visited from a site nearby, and there is an alternative route to take when towing.

Did it before it was christened the 500 with my caravan. As long as you reversing skills are good it is doable in my view. Don't remember any hills being too steep for my outfit.

Not on the main route, but a few of the scenic  side roads are not suitable for caravans.  They are signed as such.

Some friends of ours did it last year in their motor caravan ,and advised if doing it in summer peak ,be prepared to find passing places being used as a viewpoint by some which if towing a caravan could be "interesting at timessurprised"

No I didn't I was warned off of that. Surely it is not part of the NC500?
