How can Club Sites be released from lockdown?

I have been wondering how Club Sites could emerge from lockdown. And Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England, is also thinking about it, as he said on yesterday's (14/5/20) coronavirus update, following a question on camping holidays from a journalist from the Daily Mail. The prof. was worried about confined spaces and ventilation in tents and caravans, but I think if all occupants are from the same household this should not be a problem.

Thinking about it, if we all stayed in our vans of whatever type, there would be no problem, provided we distanced on arrival, stuck to our onboard toilet/shower etc, and "stayed alert" when refilling and emptying. There would be some sanitation issues with taps and sockets, nothing that couldn't be overcome with disinfectant.

BUT one of the main joys of Club Sites is the superb, spotless and well maintained shower and toilet block, and use of these would be a no-no under present epidemic conditions. Sites without a toilet block could open quite soon, well before hotels and pubs. Perhaps the Club could close all toilet blocks?

In the long term perhaps toilet blocks could be updated:  see this article in the Guardian (opens in new window). Sensor taps and no door handles: perhaps even self-cleaning wet-room toilets?

What do you think?

It's understandable that people have concerns regarding the lockdown and how we move forward later on but, in order to minimise duplication, I'm locking this thread and inviting you to post on an existing thread.

Many Thanks.
