Hello everyone,

On the 8th May it will be the 75 year anniversary of VE Day, but how will you celebrate at home whilst we are in lockdown?

We wanted to share with you some Second World War history from our archives. During the war, the Club adopted a supporting role, providing a wealth of technical tips to an influx of new members on how to make their outfits safe from the enemy. By the end of the war, membership had risen by over 200 new recruits and members were able to again enjoy life on the road. Looking at these photos, it's reassuring to see the sense of community was as strong then as it is today.

In 2020 plans for street parties and gatherings to celebrate VE Day have understandably been cancelled but there are still plenty of ways we can celebrate VE Day 75 at home and I would love to hear what you are all planning to do.

Will you be raising a toast at 3pm to the heroes of WW2? Or watching any of the special broadcasts and programmes such as the Queens special address to the nation?  Will you be making a VE Day cake or decorating your home in red, white and blue?

For anyone taking part in our Facebook Big Little Tea Time Quiz on Wednesday evenings we will have a VE Day theme this week.

Singing "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when" seems very topical.

Such a shame that no one will be at any of the 2170 CLs in the Clubs Network to celebrate VE DAY on the 8th May.
Although it will have to be undertaken in our homes or on our doorsteps, this is an opportunity for us all to remember the enormous sacrifices that were made at home and abroad during WW2
We can also put our Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) "Tommy in the window" sticker or figure, easiest of all - at 11am participate in the national two-minute silence to remember the declaration of victory and the end of the Second World War in Europe.

We also do not do Facebook twitter or others.

Will be flying the Union flag and French Tricoleur out side our place in France.

I found some bunting at the back of my shed. Think I last used it at the 50 anniversary!

We're all ready.  You can't see it, but there is also a "Tommy" from RBLI in the window - beautifully made, I have to say.

BBQ, this afternoon and our neighbours are having similar with 40's music playing through a speaker system on the lawn.

Apologies for the bendy flagpole - two lengths of not-so-rigid waste pipe was all I could find that was big enough!

    Weather's looking goodcool
