Virtual Hobbies During Lockdown

I'd usually be playing netball in local league once a week, going to local pub quiz on Wednesday evenings with my girlfriends and spending weekends away walking in the Lake District or the Cheviots.

In an attempt to stave off the boredom and potential of "going stir crazy" I have rediscovered the joys of YouTube and am embracing (with the help of 19 year old daughter) technology.

I am watching youtube videos of people climbing mountains and doing national trails (my particular favourite is Abbie Barnes) and I am watching old Superleague and ANZ netball matches. I have also had a couple of WhatsApp and Zoom group get togethers where wine was drank and good conversation was enjoyed.

What have the rest of you been doing to keep engaged with your "normal" lifestyle?

Looking at garden design, planning some new things for the garden. Watching old cycle races, and have just found a free app that lets me resize photos!😁

    Which one is that Ttda?

There was an article in the i newspaper a couple of weeks ago giving all sorts of youtube details for various digital events. A lot of them related to art galleries and museums that are giving digital viewings, places include National Portrait, Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Uffizi in Florence as well as British Museum etc.

If anyone wants specific web details let me know and I'll try and find her little black book.smile

Just spotted this WN. It’s called Image Size, works on Apple devices. It’s free if you allow the odd advert, which to be honest hasn’t bothered me. Very easy to use, couple of clicks and it saves reduced image.

I'm spending half an hour each day brushing up on my Italian by a website called duolingo. I did a couple of year's evening courses at the local college quite a time ago now. Surprising how quickly most of it is coming back. smile

Of course,  the question is when will I be able to start using it again?  frown

Yep, use it all the time. It’s also available for Android devices.

We used this for some German lessons a few years ago. It helps as a brush up a few months before we go.

Cheers Ttda. Will give it a go although Mrs WN has now put me straight on the one that came with the Apple Mac (only about 5 years old embarassed) but good to know from TW that an android will take it so I'll use it on that.

Me and my friends have been doing our usual pub quiz as a WhatsApp call instead: friends daughter has been our quizmaster but we've had to ask her to dumb it down as our highest score to date was 10 out of 30😂!!!!

If anyone interested in painting and drawing Mrs.WN has come across an excellent App, called Procreation. Yep, you did read it right.

It's kept her quiet for hours so I can recommend it.😁 She bought a new IPad Air and thinks it's the best £10 she's spent in ages. If you have android then try Medibang, which is free.

    Edit from last post.

It should read Procreate not Procreation. embarassed
