Hi, we are David & Anita. We made the decision late last year that we wanted to buy our first caravan (we have been campers for the last 4 years & the late night trips to the toilet block in the pouring rain started to put us off camping). We did all our research, took lots of advice, visited numerous dealerships, trudged around dozens of caravans and eventually ordered our dream caravan (a new Bailey Unicorn Vigo Black Edition) from our local dealer in February 2020. We have purchased all our accessories, joined the Caravan & Motorhome Club, were given a delivery date mid April 2020 and booked a caravan training course, a storage site and a few caravan holidays.

With Covid19 everything of course is on hold, and our main concern is staying safe, looking after family members, complying with government guidelines & doing our bit to help the NHS and local community. We are hoping that at some point later this year we might be able to collect our new caravan and resume our caravanning dream, but for now our priorities lie elsewhere.

On the advice of numerous members of the caravanning community we did buy a Cadac (Grillo Chef 2) which we had ready for our first holiday. We intend to use the lockdown period to familarise ourselves with the Cadac, so that when we finally get to use it on a site, we will have some great recipes we can use. So for us at the moment, we are caravanning vicariously through watching YouTube videos and trying to learn from all the seasoned experts out there.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone, and hope to see some of you out & about later this year.

Welcome to you both. We're actually at the opposite end of the great caravanning experience to you having sold ours at the end of last year.  But you're in for some great times - lots of fabulous little sites near you for short trips out when life gets back to normal!

There's a wealth of experience on the forum so feel free to ask away about anything . smile

Hi D&A, Well what a time to be starting out as a vanner! We too were campers and changed to a van in 1991 and it’s great.
Our daughter has a tunnel type tent and when we have been away together it reminds up what we miss.........not!

Re the Cadac ours goes where we do, so when at home it is, and it will be out this week for our first BBQ.
A couple of years  ago in France the guy on the pitch next to our daughter was cooking pizzas on his so we tried it and it’s an easy, and quick, way to rustle up a meal, unless you have ravenous grandchildren and then it’s just a snack.

I have been looking at alternatives for our next and then planning routes pricing ferries etc and find using viaMichelin, Streetview, the clubs travel service etc can take up a surprising amount of time which we all have at the moment.

Whenever and wherever  you go have a great time.

Don't forget to try a caravan Club Towing course. Many years ago I found it extremely useful when setting out on our caravanning career. Unless you have previous experience of towing, loading, reversing around corners etc.,

Good luck for the years to come, enjoy your new hobby to the full.

Hi David and Anita.  Good to hear from you, and welcome to Club Together.  Sorry that everything is on hold at the moment.  Lots hope everything will get easier soon.  I shall be getting our Cadac out in the garden later on this week..... getting withdrawal symptoms.  laughing
