Corona Virus Concerns

David, you've got the wrong person and the wrong story.
Many things are localised. We're in the country with a few holiday homes so we're mostly looking out for neighbours who need help. Strangely enough we have quite a few older members of the community who "don't care" and are carrying on as normal and could well be spreading the virus. It takes all sorts.

I am sure some of you might have seen and heard this wonderful tribute, but for those that haven’t, will share it again. Reader is Christopher Eccleston..... You might need a tissue😢

Is there any need to be rude about a fellow poster?
It was your mistake confusing posters David remember, a simple apology to M or even simple acceptance would be better than writing that?

It would appear that people are keeping off the roads? Taken from two different bridges this morning.

Because you accused him of doing something he didn't perhaps? That you made an error? Most people would say sorry when they make a mistake on a public forum, and certainly they would not try to divert their mistake by being rude to a fellow poster?
No you didn't thank him at all, you said
Good of you to interptret

And on the subject of reporting transgressors ..... what a good job this guy's neighbours are vigilant. Talk about one rule for them another for the rest of us!

Our local force have now put a system in place so that you can report breaches of the current guidelines. Again won't be anonymous but will assist with their resources as most of the county is complying, just odd incidents in public spaces. Especially where folk are meeting in private houses, apparently this is happening including bbq's 😱. Surely if you are not keeping below the radar what can you expect?
The police have said selling/buying drugs not essential - someone arguing it is 🤔😢🤐😂
You should see the comments on there 😢😤. Wouldn't be necessary if folk did as they were asked.
Just seen another request for a hot/spa tub, one they'd put a deposit on sold when they got there....... is that essential? Folks recommending stores, again I ask is it essential? Seems a shame that small store not selling essential items not allowed to open but the supermarkets/big boys can trade any of their stock 😥😢, i accept it couldnt be 'policed'
Another wonderful day here again, so grateful we have a garden and I hope the idiots don't make them close the parks, our park carparks have closed apparently cos folks not observing the guidelines 😢, for all the folk who don't have the luxury of a garden.
Stay safe folks

He has possibly done what I would have done in his circumstance. His children are not attending school. In his position I would have moved my family out of London and, when parliament is out of recess and I was attending the house of commons, I would have used the London property on my own whilst working.

Have you actually read the report or just the headlines? His mansion in Herefordshire is not his main residence and in fact he makes no mention of it on his own website. He didn't travel "to be with his family", they were, according to reports, with him.
There is no way to justify the unjustifiable (IMHO).

No apology necessary, I just ignored it. Robert Jenrick seems to think he can ignore his own advice - Stay at Home. Or obviously, where you are. He has been living at his London home for 3 years. He works from there his kids go to school there, it's his home. Why travel to another of his houses? This emergency is only second to a war. While the likes of him and Kirsty Allsop go around insisting they can choose which house they can call their home, at whatever time suits them others will just use this as an example/excuse. When there really is no excuse. These people have no backbone.

I did read the newspaper report which naturally lacks many of the details. But that is not relevant as I did not comment directly on the chaps actions or the newspaper report. I merely stated what I might do in a similar position to protect my family

Just become a Govt Minister then you can justify the visit, WN.
Oh, the hypocrisy! He should be sacked.

What does seem a bit strange in the current emergency is stores like B&Q continuing to trade, all be it as click / collect. Because they closed most of there smaller stores over the last few years, it means it is often a considerable distance to the nearest. Ours is some 12 miles away, yet their web site is encouraging click and collect. I went on to try and order something, put in post code and delivery wasn't available, only click / collect. I didn't regard the 24 mile return journey, or the product, essential so decided not to buy. However, I am sure there must be a lot of significant non essential journeys, that could be negated by one delivery waggon.

Just reading on the news website that Kenny Dalglish has been admitted to Hospital. He was admitted for a non virus condition but every new patient is tested for the virus and despite not showing any symptoms he has tested positive, so he is asymptomatic.
There must be quite a few carriers around who do not display any symptoms so the message that keeps being drummed into people about not traveling continues to be vital to follow.
I have heard local people say "Oh, I'm alright. I'd know if I had it" which can be a load of rubbish as the symptoms take time to develop and, as in the case of Mr.Dalglish, can also be a carrier.

Would like bedding plants as I have tubs I fill every year and the garden is looking rather bare. Have tried the nurseries web sites but mostly out of stock. As I use B&Q most years for bedding I went to their web site with the hope they may deliver. Told I was in a queue and would have to wait an hour to enter their web site! I gave up.

Is there not a local garden centre that you could use? They will likely be glad of the business and may be able to deliver.
We had a delivery last week from the place we always use which is just over 20 miles away and the charge was £10.

The Merry Harriers, perhaps. I don’t know about their plants but the cafe isn’t bad in normal times.
