Wonder if someone can help me here please, Will the radio in my motorhome be connected to the van battery or to the leisure battery, frightened to use it whilst camping in case I drain the battery.I have a solar panel fitted so we like to do wild camping.

It’s difficult to be specific with knowing nothing at all about your vehicle but, if you’re talking about the radio in the cab, the usual thing is for it to run off the vehicle battery. They usually cut out after 20 mins or so when the engine isn’t running to prevent battery drainage.

If its the standard cab radio I would have thought almost certainly off the cab battery? What sort of controller do you have for your solar panel? Depending on the controller it might be capable of charging both leisure and cab batteries. A check on the controller either from the hand book or a search online should establish what its charging. Even if the controller can only provide one charging point you can always have something called a Battery Master fitted which will push any extra charge from the leisure battery through to the cab battery to keep it in good condition. I have had one fitted to both my motorhomes.

I usually use the TV radio channels other than when on the move. There is actually more choise as well and as TW says it doesn't cut out after 20 mins.
