I heard they were also only working on 50% occupancy, ie every other pitch in use, and advising folk to only travel to nearby sites. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    From their web site.

If you are in a category the government deems most at risk from the spread of the virus, we would urge you not to visit us until the restrictions imposed by self-isolation are lifted. Similarly, if you are showing symptoms of Coronavirus, please do not travel and follow the advice on the NHS website. If you develop symptoms during your stay, your travel party must take all precautions to avoid contact with guests or staff, return home and all self-isolate for 14 days.

Whilst at the current time we remain open, you will notice some changes when you arrive:

All campsites are running at a maximum of 50% occupancy, with more space to promote easier social distancing between pitches
Meets, gatherings and socialising in groups outside your travel party are not permitted
All on-site social and communal areas will be closed
All facilities blocks are closed, this includes toilets and showers
A number of our Club sites will remain shut at the start of the season
These measures will be in place until at least the end of May or until further government guidance is issued.

Note 18 of their sites will not be opening and they emphasise that those most at risk members should not visit their sites.

I wonder what the motive is for staying open?

Possibly, must admit hadn't thought of that, but surely any aid is still available if they voluntary close both for individuals and companies after all many have closed up shop and they have not been ordered to do so, e.g. Haven and the car industry.

Sadly I think we will have to cancel our week in Keswick.Still, if that's the worst thing to happen to us we will cope.

With the it seems ,(conversation this morning) growing numbers of "workers" useing sites (instead of hotels),when away from home,

,,Which gives them more flexibility,  ,,

It may well be one of the reasons ,sites are open,?

The ccc  head honchos it seems ,, have a more "in touch" attitude towards their members ,in trying to satisfy both sides of the argument

Methinks something happened overnight to bring about this massive about turn by the clubs.

Numerous change.org petitions, MPs representing rural areas getting involved, a huge revolt on social media, the incident in Scotland where locals gave short shrift to campervan owners trying to pitch up.

Both Clubs had no choice, their reputations were being seriously dented.

Just how many e mails did you send Tinny!? laughing

I sent one to the C&CC last night. I am pleased to say they acknowledged the concern of their members! 👍

    😂😂

Two to this club and I’m in the process of compiling the third to add my latest thoughts😇

I'd not mailed C&CC as I could see they were taking more proactive steps and I thought they'd reach this point before long.

C&CC say in there closure notice that they were lobbied by Tourist Boards. I wouldn’t be surprised either, because a number of MPs had got involved, an early morning call to the management of the Clubs from someone high up in Defra or Health dept

Whichever way their decisions were made, the Clubs bosses woke up this morning to a flood of negativity.
That video though... what a blunder that was sealed

So pleased commonsense has prevailed and both clubs have reacted to members concerns and tourist spots request to stay away.  We meet negativity in normal times from some quarters, so going away in van or motorhome in time of crisis would not endear us to the public in holiday places when all returns to normal (whenever that may be)

They didn't really have an option and it was the best thing to do.  1 July for reopening is a little optimistic to say the least.

Both the large clubs should be able to take the financial hit but I worry about the small private sites. One I know has invested quite heavily in upgrading its shower block over the winter.

It’s the same for all manner of businesses in a huge range of sectors. I’m self employed, the requests for quotes stopped two weeks ago and I’ve not had a single penny of income since. Its the way it goes though, a lot of others are in the same boat so it’s a case of what will be will be. The Government is supporting certain sectors and a small independent  campsite holding may be able to benefit.

That's private sites closing as well, Just had a email from a site we had booked at the end of June offering a credit note or refund. Much as I wanted to take the credit note to give them a chance to keep there business going I've took the refund as I think we'll be writing off this year as doing much touring, But if we come out of it all unscathed we can pick up again next year. Above all stay safe everyone.
