Coronavirus and Warranty issues

With increasing concerns about Coronavirus and the likely need to self isolate I'm wondering if manufacturers will apply any flexibility with any future warranty issues if owners were unable to get their caravan/motorhome serviced annually as they normally would do?

The way caravan manufacturers work in respect of warranties? I think you can be almost certain they will simply add it to their extensive list of reasons to reject warranty claims.

I sent an Email to Bailey Caravans last week on just this subject , as I had a service booked on the 15 th April, and as we are well in the vunerable ages group, asked for their comments, no reply as yetundecided

In a similar vein, my car is due for its MOT a week today. If I don’t take it to be tested it will be illegal within days. I wonder how lenient Mr Plod is gong to be?

Make a SORN Declaration? Have you got a MOT Appointment? If you have and are traveling to the Test, then you are OK. And since the MOT is a legal requirement, the journey cannot be other than essential.

After my post this morning I sent an email to Swift posing the same question. No reply yet but should I get one I'll post an update.

Mine is due and booked in for a service and MOT on Thursday. I'm going to risk the 6 miles trip there and back! smile

Received the following response from Swift to my post added yesterday -

"Due to the current situation we are advising customers that we are allowing leeway when it comes to having your habitation servicing done. We are advising customers not to panic and to get the servicing done when you can."

Obviously but the car travelled to work & from 3 or 4 times week doing 50 miles a day, some motorway, some not. A few years back there was a mix up re insurance & reg number on SWMBO's car which technically meant the car wasn't insured, it travelled the length & breadth of the country without problem.

But the original question was re MOT which I think Plod would be a little understanding on for a week or so.

Did the garage award your wife an MOT Certificate? I'm interested because it is my wife's 65th birthday today and I'm wondering if I can have her MOT done at the same time as her other medical tests ... sealed

    Elddis have on their website

We are currently hearing from lots of our Customers who are due their Annual Service and concerned about what to do during the Coronavirus restrictions.

    Please do not worry.

We understand that the restrictions currently in place will affect your ability to present your vehicle for a pre-booked annual habitation service.

During this period, we will not penalise our Customers for a late service, provided that the service is carried out as soon as possible once the situation is resolved.

In the meantime, we want you and your family to stay safe and look forward to future motorhome and caravan adventures.

State Pension is a sore point. Elaine doesn't get hers until next year, whereas I, thanks to the sterling efforts of my parents, squeezed into the 'Starts at age 65' by a few months sealed

Don't start me on it 😢😤😤🤐

Got my own back on the government and decided not to pay them any tax by giving up work as we'd planned before retirement ages changed., OH never got caught in the change. So glad I did we had a couple of good years touring before OH health took a turn.

Sounds like poor service from Coachman, deserves to be remembered when considering any future purchase? I had a similar issue with Weinsberg (MH not caravan) and received a prompt response from German HQ confirming due date for all warranty checks would be extended. Hoping to get similar service from Fiat for a just-out-of-warranty problem.

In my time of owning coachman caravans I have found their afresales a disgrace, as for replies from e mails they only answer when the want which is next to never.

As for poor service I have found that there are lots using the excuse of corona virus as an excuse for poor service.

My swift caravan was booked in for is first service and 6 small warranty issues in April, this got cancelled and rebooked for early August, all warranty work completed no problems, so swift seem to be extending the warranty period.

best to keep in touch with your dealer,

Our Autosleeper was due a  first service in March but my recovery from cancer surgery/Chemo and no driving on medical grounds for six weeks  then merged into Lockdown etcetera  and it finally got serviced in July. Not a lot that anybody could do about it in the circumstances.

Autosleeper and my dealer were fine about it all but I will still need to present the MH for service in March 2021 in order to keep within the Warranty conditions.Never mind,a few quid spent on a premature service is not really an issue when compared to the "grand scheme of things".

Waking up still in one piece after six hours of surgery kind of put it all into perspective.

I thought most manufacturers were extending the leeway for servicing because of the Covid restrictions.  Fortunately, we had ours done within the original time framework, but the servicing department at our dealers have extended working hours in order to catch up with the backlog of servicing.

Can anybody help with a problem I have?

bought a £700 air awning from leisure outlet in April and then we went into lock down. Due to my partner working for nhs in respiratory we couldn’t get away until August. New awning leaked so complained and they agreed to pick up on 19th of October and outdoor revolution have confirmed awning is faulty but leisure outlet refuse to give me a refund as it’s over 6 months old 😡

    anybody got any suggestions?

This isn't a caravan issue so it's in the wrong place.  Can you repost in the Parts and Accessories Section please.

    Thank You.
