Sites staying open....
Presumably given the complete lack of information from the club they are keeping all sites open. So unless we move to complete lockdown/quarantine we can look forward to visiting all the club sites we have booked, fantastic!

It isnt advice or info on European travel i need. The last UK advice on this forum was on Monday afternoon. The thread states there will be regular updates. Since then Govt advice has changed significantly and numerous leisure industry business have announced closures such as Centr Parcs and cinema chains. I have received numerous emails from those business. It is not unreasonable to expect the club to email ALL members with an update and decision. Not everyone lives on forums and informed social media. The niaivety of much of the public is such there are people who think they will be able to go on their hols as normal and this situation is just a 15 day interruption. So, as a member of this organisation i expect some clear business decisions and not hiding behind govt advice. Where i work we were scenario testing last week.

I think this is a perfectly reasonable request as the op states, advice has changed significantly since Monday, The general consensus is social distancing and only travel if essential, yet the club states all sites are open and operating normally, i would say myself that this is conflicting advice

You could do as I did and email the club urging them to close sites.

The Clubs lack of direction on this matter is indeed a concern (nothing posted on the site regarding UK sites since Monday at 2pm) but I think that its incumbent on each member to make their own decisions.
Its not just taking the risk of transmission whilst at sites, but also between sites and in the local community.
We have cut short our trip and returned home as we think its the responsible thing to do.

There is a link to the club web page above where they detail their response
Coronavirus (COVID-19) UK campsites (last updated 16/03/20 at 14:00)
We know that people may be concerned about Coronavirus (Covid-19), this is a fast-moving situation and we want to reassure you we’re carefully monitoring the reports of outbreaks of coronavirus in the UK, Europe and various countries around the world. We also want to reassure you that UK Club campsites are open. We are following Government guidelines and taking all appropriate measures to ensure our campsites are open and ready to welcome you.
The safety and wellbeing of members, guests and staff is of paramount importance to the Club.
We would urge you all to follow Government guidelines about personal hygiene and handwashing, as well as ensuring your leisure vehicle equipment surfaces are regularly cleaned.
Because this is such a dynamic situation, we will be regularly updating these pages.

I am not asking for the sites to be closed, on the contrary! However i want the club to get its PR act together and let its members know what they are doing. I know of at least 3 club members non of whom use this forum so have no idea what the club is doing with opening/closing or whatever! Is it really that difficult to do a ‘send to all members’ email?! I appreciate they have to address a host of issues, staff safety, business continuity, finance, insurance, sub contractors, and so on and so on. However they also have a duty to their customers and members who pay their wages!

Totally agree. I received an email from Camping car park, shortly after president M made his lockdown announcement, detailing the protocols and form filling required to use their Aires. So anyone in transit home would know what to do. If they can get there act together for such a quick response, surely the CC can.

The advice will probably change hour by hour so I hopefully have enough commonsense to make the right decisions for me and mine. It seems to me that some are so use to 24 hour social media etc.. that we seem to think they or someone else should take responsibility for our actions.

That is one of the main problems it seems, many these days have lost the ability to make a decision on their own , and then if that responsibility is taken by others for them, it gives them the opening to complain, if it is not what they wanted to hear,
What more of a decision is needed,in respect of useing your RV , when the statement from the government advised against any journey unless essential

It doesn’t take the brains of a rocket scientist to work out what HMG means by avoiding non essential travel. Even for those who might have an essential need to take their outfit to a site which is open, you might want to consider the implications for the site staying open if one of the staff has to self isolate. The latter, I agree, is where the Club needs to issue some advice. That aside we need to take some personal responsibility for our actions, rather than wait to be told what to do.

The CMC website displays a press release timed 1400hrs on Monday 16 March 2020. That is prior to the latest Government advice to stop non essential travel. Therefore that does not consider the present situation.
Thankfully most responsible members are making the right choices and not travelling as leisure travel is abundantly not essential travel.
We are heartbroken about this situation. As new caravanners and after a long saving project we purchased our first caravan on 1 March 2020. We were booked to travel to a Club site today but cancelled on Tuesday. I phoned the office to cancel because it was less than 72 hours. They pointed me to the Club advice which I advised them was out of date!
There is a definite need for clarification by the Club.

Then presumably the CMC does not see a need to change the info as at present

I expect like most, they are expecting us to take notice of the gov advise,,but will have by not acting on it and, understand that there wiil always be those who think that that sort of advise does not apply to them , so are trying ,,, until more forceful "advise?" Is issued not seen as most companies, unable if close sites and claim from their insurance

Yes saw this F. My first thought was selfish b*******s. Other countries have rounded up those who have tried this and they have been taken back to their primary residences. This is part of how the disease is spreading so quickly in other countries.

The article did not mention folk trying to register but unregistered people using the service. (I may have misread). A lot of these people may have been moving between the properties and staying in their present second home (as ratepayers) for much of the time. Not all are doing so to isolate
