"Essential Travel"
Arising from the Corona virus situation government advised tonight that we should only travel if essential. Can the Club define "essential travel" please? I've got three holidays booked on Club sites so far and three on CL's. I could argue that my travelling to the sites is essential for my general well being. Does the Club have a position on this? I'm also defining as being in a high risk group i.e. over 70 but in generally reasonable health for an "old codger", again does the Club think I should be travelling or shall I scrap all my holidays this season?

Nah, he’s just demonstrating a complete inability to formulate a common sense decision........
or maybe being deeply ironic?🤷♂️😁

The government advice is clear....no none essential travel.....I cannot understand why the Club is encouraging its members to travel

I have just cancelled two up coming club sites without hesitation. Disappointed, yes but hopefully we will come out of the situation before to long. The club needs to alter the box for choosing a reason for cancellation. Cov-19 is missing. Because you can't submit the cancellation without making an entry here I unfortunately had to tell a lie.
Still planning a Scottish tour starting May, so far two cl's booked. One with deposit and one without. will wait a while longer before deciding on what to do.
Fortunately I am not 70 so won't come into that scenario.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings. A break could also be deemed essential to ones mental well-being and a caravan is a good way to isolate. It is also thought the virus thrives less well outside! Essential travel is open to interpretation. However realistically I am anticipating closure of most sites until this is over.

To some, essential travel is public transport. There are plenty of other threads discussing site closures and staff/warden issues. It is a very difficult situation and given the club is a travel industry business, it is also vulnerable (as any hotel or airline) from going bust. The only saving grace is membership fee income.

Closing sites for at least a month especially over Easter would hit the Club hard but I don't believe it would go bust. It has healthy reserves and no debt.
I cnnot imagine sites are going to operated profitably over the coming weeks in any case.
