Fourways CL, Suffolk
Sadly, our cruise to celebrate hubby’s 50th was cancelled yesterday. Unable to change our annual leave, we’ve opted to go away in the van. He fancied East Anglia so booked Fourways CL at Lowestoft for 6 nights, stopping off at Sandringham CMC for 1 night tomorrow. It will just be a week of chilling and relaxing, but does anyone have any recommendations of places to go in the area. Thanks in advance.

If it's just relaxing then head down the coast to Southwold, a very pleasant seaside town with a nice pier. Plenty of eating and shopping opportunities. If you feel like a stroll then walk south on the beach area down to the quay where there are numerous cafes, fish and chip shops, a lovely fish restaurant and a pub. It's about 30 minutes from the lighthouse.
Free parking near the water tower, on your right as you enter the town.

It would interesting to know what you make of the site, Moonstone, as although it has good reviews they are at least 2 years old. If favourable it would be one for future use for us.

You will be halfway between Yarmouth and Lowestoft so lots of opportunities depending on what will open during this virus period. The site is fairly isolated but plenty of beaches within a couple of miles. The beach from Gorleston to Hopton is recommended

Also Lavenham is the jewel in the Suffolk crown, Long Melford and Clare are beautiful too. Aldeborough is a good sea side town with a good fish and chip shop although not as good as the one Wherenext mentions at Southwold quay.
My blog on our holiday there last year will give you a lot more ideas of where to go

Thank you - very helpful. Just en-route.
Nellie - he is full over the weekend so hopefully that’s a good sign 🤞🏻

If you look at my photo, that's me about to set off on my bike from this site about 4 years ago. Good cycling around the country lanes if you can keep off the main road.
Also you could put on a waterproof and stand and watch the clock on Southwold pier.
You could also head to Oulton Broad to hire a motor boat on the broads.
A weekend trip on the North Norfolk Steam railway from Sheringham or Holt would be good but may be closed because of the virus.

Thanks, Moonstone. I just wondered why there were no decent reviews.

If you like walking and beaches, Covehithe is lovely, just south of Kessingland, a unique church inside a ruined church, nice walk down to a stunning and very quiet beach. A bit further south is Dunwich, a village now with the old town and port swallowed up by the sea long ago, but a good museum and pub.
