Invincible Drivers

Why do some drivers think they are invincible? It was very windy yesterday whilst I was travelling along the A50. I was in a stream of traffic all doing 60mph when a caravan outfit came past in the outside lane doing, in my estimation, closer to 70mph than 60mph. Why do they do it? It is both illegal and stupidly dangerous especially in such windy conditions.

It serves no useful purpose to seek to find out why  but testosterone comes into it.

Just give them space because they may need it !

    Why do they do it?

That is what the coroner will be trying to determine.

'The Quick and the Dead'/ All in one package, blocking a motorway near you, and for dessert, an increase on next year's insurance premium for your car and caravan to defray the 'accident' costs ...

Why we call them accidents when the underlying causes were conscious actions and decisions is beyond me.

Best way to draw attention to themselves if it was.

We were on our way on holiday traveling down the motorway doing 60 MPH when a 4x4 towing a twin axle caravan flew past us, a couple hours later the traffic started to backup and then reason became apparent the outfit that had flew past us had come to grief the caravan on its side and the 4x4 down in the ditch the caravan was a mess but the 4x4 was upright so hopefully the occupants were ok and perhaps a bit wiser

Perhaps they were in a hurry to get the best pitch. A few years ago we were traveling around the Cirencester (dual carriageway) ring road, on our way to the site. Two twin axle caravans tore past us and into the roundabout ahead at a ridiculous speed and were  lucky they didn't loose control. When we arrived at the site about 8 minutes later, they were immediately ahead in the queue.

I think you have hit the nail on the head, and then they bomb round the site at breakneck speed. To avoid all that we now never start out till about 11:00 and we book a service pitch so no rush

Oh the joy of nice warm, on-board facilities.

What ever the speed limit is set at it will never stop this happening. When it was set at 50 some did 60 so know it's 60 they do 65 or more. We have one of the most stable outfits we can buy, with the big Shogun and all the anti snake things on the van and we never exceed 60 mph any were.  Just let them go and say BYE BYE. we do.

There you are then. They achieved their goals and probably thought they'd been clever and done nothing wrong - next time could be so much different!

Funny thing about the Cirencester site. Last year was approaching on the  dual carriageway and there was a line of  cones marked 'County Show' - in the outside lane, not the club site then!.

Dumbo stayed out of the marked lane and had to go 3 or 4 miles further west before being able to turn round and get in the correct lane, go down the alleyway to the club site.

Oh the joys of caravanning - nothing is simple is it?

On one occasion when we were there, on walking up the entrance lane one Sunday morning, I found it blocked as it was part of the start of a long distance run. On returning I mentioned it to the warden. They had not been informed that it was going to be closed for about 2 hours. Personally given the number of pot holes, I thought it a health hazard using it.😂

Given the current shortage of supplies, you could 'dual purpose' the newspaper by cutting it into squares that are small enough to read in comfort, onboard, and then dispose of the read content appropriately. Word of warning, though, the 'Red Tops' may not be suitable given the reported descriptions of their journalistic content. Apparently they have a very high fertiliser content already ... tongue-out

Look on the bright side, those two idiots could well end up leaving vacancies for a couple of much needed pitches!cool
