THAT virus!
I have 2 loves in my life, inanimate that is. Caravanning and cruising. If I had to chose one or the other it would be close, with the caravan maybe slightly ahead at the moment. I suppose the way things are at the moment as well, caravanning in the UK is a relatively safe holiday, virus wise. You are staying in your own accommodation, plenty of fresh air etc. I wonder if people taking caravan holidays will rise this year? Are booking up or down I wonder. What do you all think??
Moderator Comment - I have closed this thread as we already have a long running one on the same subject here https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/overseas-sites-touring/coronavirus-worries Perhaps best to keep everything under one thread to avoid duplication.

I just realised that where I posted re our up and comming trip was the overseas section, so will repeat it here. We cancelled our trip to York and booked Hawes. Thinking it would be a safer bet than the city with a lot of inside stuff. However, if self isolation in the event of any cold is brought in, that could be logistically difficult in a MH, particularly if you both come down. We have decided we will go away but come home if one of us gets a cold. Although the site itself could become a problem, CC sites aren't exactly overmanned and there are only so many reserves if the current staff get a cold.

I'm not sure about this idea that one has to self isolate if one gets a cough or cold. I'm at the very tail end of a cold which has lasted a few weeks but which has left me, like many others with colds recently, with a bit of catarrh and an occasional cough. Nothing much. Does this mean that I must self isolate? The information so far is a bit vague. How many times must one cough in a day to be forced into self isolation. At the moment this idea doesn't appear to have been thought through very thoroughly.
Just as an aside, if I eat chocolate it frequently makes me cough, it's the sugariness in my throat that causes it. Would this count against me if I cough? Logic says no but if others saw / heard me cough would they think the worst?
Whilst I am not wanting to make light of the situation and whilst it is very sad for those left behind, there have only been 5 deaths in the UK so far, all with underlying health problems. This is one person per 13, 200,000 of the population at present. Hope this helps keep it in perspective. I know things will undoubtedly change but that is the situation at the moment.
On a final note, it would be good if the BBC etc had somebody on the news that had actually had the virus and had fully recovered. They could explain first hand the symptoms and progression of their 'illness'. It might allay some people's fears.
