Mayhap there weren’t that many vehicles about compared to now CY, it was  1970🤷🏻‍♂️. Less vehicles=less roadkill.

Another look at the lack of any dead animal noted at the side of roads 50yrs ago,  could also be the amount of vehicles on the roads now     , with the drivers now cocooned in their "safe"environment at much higher speeds,    and as noticed when driving,   the amount ofdrivers, who do not seem to be able to read the road , and conditions  they are driving in

The eco warriors with little knowledge of the countryside impose their will again.

So what's you solution to stopping the TB infection in cattle then, Fish, as I'm sure you'll have one that's much better than anyone else's.

It’ll sort itself out in the near future Nells, the ‘impossible burger’ & ‘beyond meat’ have plant based vegan ‘tastes like meat’ burgers that have meat eaters convinced they are animal based. So the need for farmers breeding animals will wane. That means less pressure on the pesky wildlife that get in the way of bigger profits👍🏻

And will the dairy farmers change over to growing Soya for milk production? I very much doubt it.

Who knows what will happen, I do know that growing plants don’t kill wildlife particularly so now they can’t spray poison willy nilly. Jobs a gud un👍🏻

We back onto a wood, for many years we were visited regularly by a big Brock badger who came for his snacks. Early one summer morning I went out to see if his food had gone from the previous evening. As I looked down, he was suddenly right at my feet snuffling around, eventually and in no hurry he ambled away. A magical moment. Then the cull, and suddenly he was no longer there. So sad to kill these ancient, protected creatures. The cull was never going to work DEFRA' s own top researchers told them that, vaccine was always the answer.

Easy to criticise a farmer with your mouth full.

I’ve made steps to curb my meat intake. In the past, it was ‘meat with everything’, not the case now. I get the feeling I’m not alone.
