The van is always serviced around this time of year so it's ready for the road but I never go too far away for my first trip of the new year.

Before we go, I always give the van a good vacuum and dust check all the contents so I don't forget anything.

All I do in the Spring is cleanse the water tanks and watering can/hose (could be done any time of the year), and remove the fridge vent covers (must do). I use the van all the year round.

check every item in the cvan and ask yourself do you really need to be carrying it. I did this yesterday and cleared out 25kg of stuff some of which we bought because we thought it was a good idea at the time but have never used it, mainly cooking gear, tools, and a box of books that i bought at a car boot must be 10 years ago, 5 berth van with 7 sleeping bags undecided, 3 x wheel wrenches, 4 x pairs flip flops, 3 x pairs crocs, a box full of board games, we only ever play scrabble or upword, the only weight i strictly adhere to and measure is the nose weight but 5 berth cvan for normally only the two of us i dont belive we have a problem.

Same here. Our biggest worry is fitting in trips in MH between cottage holidays and DIY at home. MH touring usually comes first. 👍

    For us non hardy caravanners!

    Wash caravan

    Give inside a good clean

    Get caravan serviced

    Clean water system

    Check gas bottles

Check if you have sufficient wc fluidswink

Clear out unwanted stuff that has accumulated over the years

    Pray for good weather.

Us hardy tourers just look at our weather app and head where it’s says dry! Not foolproof though, I admit😁

Why must there be a "new touring season"? Just get out there all the year round, especially if you have a relatively new unit as they are so well insulated against all sorts of weather these days.

Is there really a start to "The Season" or is it something thought up by caravan salesman to increase turnover.

I concur with the suggestions above, though they are mostly things we do between each trip and not once a year. Just getting ready for our third trip and wondering if I put back all the weight that has been discarded, would the caravan sit any better on site in the next great gale we have coming?

We are at the moment in between touring seasons,   last one finished beginning of this month  , next one starts as soon as NHS and all other medically orientated  issues/appointments sorted  , middle of  March hopefully surprised

Most important tip for us it to ensure that water is turned off and heating on frost stat before setting offwink

Sound like you could use an introduction to a mobile caravan service mechanic.

We usually tour all year round however due to circumstances this year we finished at the end of November and are hoping to go away again during the second week of March. We emptied the van at the end of November and it had its annual service in the middle of December. It was all cleaned and a few weeks ago we gave the inside a good clean out too. All tanks ect have been drained and we have had the battery on a trickle charge. We are now starting to pack all our things back in that we will need for the season ahead, Can't come quick enough for us this year.

Tea is just for my girl-friend.  There is also a caffetiere and an Espresso machine for the rest of the world.

New season? For us caravaning is 10 months of the year, tend to have January and February off.

Memo to self: purchase new wellies/waders, just in case.
