Gas bottles

Depends how up to date the site is, I was "advised" by our GP (a caravaner) that i should have at my age and medical condition a motor mover fitted to our caravan,in all the sites we have visited i have used it the max five times to assist with pitching ,and have not ,as some seem to need, , anything other space than the site road to get on the pitch, so the majority must ( if capable) be plenty big enough to get onto
ps the one site that the motor mover was essential to get on the pitch (as advised by the staff) was the commercial site in Norfolk , the only real problem on the cc network i have found is MIM and that is only the older part of the site

Surely I don’t have to spell it out again! It's so obviously a safety issue as common sense dictates. Gases are considered Class 2 dangerous goods.
A few hundred yards to exchange/top up vs 200 miles on the motorway at max legal speed - nah, no difference there!
People carrying gas bottles in their car run risks and should check their insurance policies.

In the tent camping world carrying 907 Gaz containers within cars is all but universal.
Probably you do need to spell out the dangers, if so totally untenable.
But to add balance give the risk parallels with on every journey upto 70 odd litres of gasolene in a plastic tank tucked under the boot and adjacent to the exhaust system.
Like most things, even venturing a motorhome off the drive onto a road, there are associated risk, we just need to minimise them.
I have to admit though I generally get my Gaslights delivered to my home, I have been know to put an empty in the car to get a replacement; I just do so very mindful of what I am doing.

You have the advantage of me in knowing the locks of other vehicles, but IMO the 11.45 mtre kerb to kerb turning circle of our 4.84 metre LOA D4 seems impressive.
Are any other vehicles of similar length, that are that much more impresive in this regard to warrant your intervention on my vehicle's poor turning preformance?
Also in reverse, steering lock is not going to dominate. Here jack knifing comes critical, and with having a van with about the longest "A" frame available, it puts me at some advantage.
Nevertheless, despite any particular numbers, the fact remains if the unit length precludes driving onto a pitch, then at nearly two tonnes of van, a mover is IMO the "thinking man's" choice.
The nose in is not any reflection of using a LR, I totally fail to understand your linking those points, but the van being continental, particularly it having an off side habitation door.

You clearly misunderstand.
Reversing in is never my prefered CMC site choice, on every occassion it has been requested of me.
It has absolutely everything to do with being continental, why would they request it otherwise?
Thankfully, now the CMC is more relaxed and pragmatic on pitching continental vans and MHs.

In the years we have been members, and with numerous site staff now in our circle,i cannot remember any sites we have been on that the "wrong side door" c/vans are requested to go nose in ,there have been times when the said owners have asked if the can go "nose in" as their beds are at the front,so nose in gives more "curtain twitching",and watching others on the usual "promenading" that seems to happen

What was or was not happening in your circle and with numerous site staff you know, was not any part of the scene, we encountered. You had a continental van then to actually get drawn into such requests each time when checking in?
Our bedroom or its widows are not at the front or offside, plus I can never recall being questioned on where the bedroom or its windows were located.
The observation always was simply, the van is continental, door on off side, pitch nose in. I think always a "please" and always courteous.
As said the rigidity has backed off, but please accept I know what things were like.

Ready availability of LPG replenishment is always a consideration "over there". I can recall numerous visits to Leclerc for an exchange 907 back in the day. That's one of the big advantages of refillables these days although I acknowledge there are other solutions.
