Campsite reviews need photos
Whilst looking for sites with hard standing we have found it frustrating that some cl's do not have photos or do not show the hard standing. We wanted to do reviews with a photo to show the good and the bad but the system does not allow this. Surely members should be able to do this and if the club is worried about web size it is easy for them to restrict the photo size

It would be a useful extra facility, a bit like adding photos to a post on the forum. Alternatively you could join this Facebook Group "Caravan & Motorhome Club Site & CL Reviews Only" where you are free to post any pictures you want to. Members and some CL owners often post pictures of the CL's they either own or have visited.

I think Ro told us that new CLs must supply pics. If the owners don’t forward pics, the site inspectors will do it.
I rarely use a CL if I can’t see a pic of it first.

I wonder if moving this thread to the CL section might prompt a few CL owners to submit photos? There again, if they haven’t sent pics, they probably don’t bother to read the forum either🤷🏻♂️

It is only a few years ago that we all just relied on the description in the handbook! In my experience it worked out OK more often than not! However, times change, technology moves on (the printed word was once new technology) and many of us have particular preferences for certain facilities.
I am surprised more CL owners dont use their descriptions on the Club site to better advertise the site - not only lack of photos, sometimes lack of relevant photos - I want to see photos of the site itself - not just nearby views. The written description is also sometimes woefully short.
We do use CLs - via book & Club web site and have a list or our requirements, information which I try & glean from the description plus reviews. Now we are motohomers we prefer hard standing. We dont like sloping sites. Sites very close to public transport are good. We are still wanting an electric hook up (going to try without, this next year). Dont want loo & shower - never quite understood their attraction on CLs. If the pitches are fully serviced, that is a bonus. (I'd rather owners put their investments into that, not showers). An idea of what the site is like as a whole - tidy/untidy, noisy/quiet, cramped/spacious is also useful.
It is really surprising how difficult it is to tick those boxes from the enormous amount of information supposedly now available!!

With respect to the picture it should be made compulsory to provide pictures of the site, the pitches, facilities and a drone pic.
Useless pictures of bluebells, rabbits, birds, insects, flowers and ducks should carry a pound a night discount for every one used.
I think that the issue is that in the modern world the CC site just does not drive enough traffic. It is a bit dire to use.
The CL owners tend to use the club for club affiliation and then do their own thing to get business. The listing on a site like UK campsite is far more important to them than this site.
The OP considers the club server size may be a worry if pictures are allowed, its 2020!
The club is unfortunately just like the best shop on the high street, keeping its loyal customers equipped with underwear and pick'n'mix but not understanding that there will be no more high street in 5 years. Just like the traffic on this forum its on line relevance to users is dwindling. That really is an issue of survival but they appear to be comforted that pick'n'mix sales are holding up!
