Bike carrier fitting in Scotland
I live outside Edinburgh , have a 2009 Fiat Ducato based motorhome and am looking to get a bike carrier fitted.
The Fiamma Carry-Bike 200 DJ looks like the one to get but I wonder if anyone knows of anywhere in Scotland that supplies and fits them?

I would have thought it a job the majority of Motorhome dealers could complete for you. Often the fixing points are already in place, depending on model. What about where you have your van serviced?

Kevin,
I had the same idea 2 years ago, but having 2 rear doors (a Panel Van Conversion) and after looking at the rear axle weights etc ( DJ 200 carrier + 2 bikes), decided against it. Am not sure what the rear door loadings would be and Fiat would not provide this data !
If you have no rear doors i.e a coach-built model then maybe this isn't an issue.
Just a thought..

You don’t say what make of motorhome you have but I would check with the manufacturer, if possible, to get a drawing that shows exactly where the cycle rack fitting points are. In 2009 I bought a new motorhome from a well known, large, national caravan/motorhome dealer and asked for a cycle rack to be fitted before delivery. About 3 years later, when in France, I noticed that the fixing bolts were pulling through the rear panel. I managed to get a French motorhome dealer to make a temporary repair to complete our holiday.
On our return I contacted the motorhome manufacturer to find out how this could have happened and was sent a drawing showing the built-in cycle rack fixing points. The dealer had fitted the incorrect rack and completely missed the fixing locations hence the failure. Needless to say that multi-site dealer had gone bust by then so I was forced to pay for the repairs and refitting of the correct rack myself.
Even if you can’t get the drawing yourself, the person fitting the rack should be able to show you such a drawing or how is he going to know exactly where the correct fixing points are!
