It might be wise first to check that out with Alde UK.

It's what Alde specify G13, the cheapest Alde labelled bottle is £8.99/ltr

    Extract from Alde manual

Alde Premium G13 Antifreeze is pre-mixed with deionised water and ready to use in the Alde system, suitable for even the Scandinavian winter. The silicated OAT corrosion inhibitor is compatible with the silicate-containing antifreezes used as standard by most UK vendors, and provides 5-year protection.

G13 as a specification was launched by the Volkswagen Automotive Group in 2013, and is now used in Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, MAN, Porsche, Scania, SEAT, Škoda and VW vehicles. So it's commonly available from anywhere you'd expect to buy antifreeze for your car engine radiator.

G13 officially supersedes G12++ products, offering the same benefits from a more environmentally friendly manufacturing process.

How did you find the process DIY. We have recently brought a caravan with the Alde heating system and I was thi king of doing the change myself. I have found a few clips on u tube and it seems fairly straightforward.

Not too difficult, tilt van towards drain point, remove bung  drain old fluid, flush replace bung,  turn  pump speed circulate until air is out. You need to bleed air from highest bleed point.

There's several videos on YouTube with more details.

viatorem, you may well find that you have to bleed the system a couple of times during use to ensure that all the air is expelled.

Haven’t been on this forum for a while so only just seen this posting. I checked directly with Alde about a year ago and they were very insistent that they do NOT recommend the EuroCarParts ‘G13’ antifreeze in their systems. It Is always possible that they’ve changed their stance over the past 12 months but I wouldn’t use it without checking first.

Very interesting, I will check with Aldi. I wonder why they don't recommend it?

Maybe they just want you to buy their overpriced antifreeze instead of a cheaper but equivalent one.

In a nut shell ..... as long  as you don't mix types of coolant I can't see why AN Other G13 anti-freeze wouldn't fit the bill.

They do give extensive guidance on alternatives to their own fluid including recommending  modest cost brands.

These include Comma's GG40, and prior to moving to this more environmental fluid, Comma's G40.

As I said in the very first post in response to this thread, it is best to check first.

When I asked them about a year ago they said it was because EuroCarParts state on their website “Performance level VW G-13/TL-774J & NF R 15601 TYPE 3“. They do not specifically claim to have official authorisation from VW to use their product in VW cars so Alde will not recommend it for use in their heating systems. You may consider this to be pedantic and therefore choose to ignore their recommendation. However, if you subsequently have corrosion problems in your heating system do not be surprised if Alde are not sympathetic.

For an oil or lubrication to be officially endorsed by a manufacturer is horrendously expensive. That cost is passed onto you. If Eurocarparts are saying using words to the effect of 'up to VAG spec' it will mean it meets VAG spec, but they just haven't paid to have it VAG approved. I cannot foresee any issues. Thats why its cheaper.

I think its more important to change the fluid than have the VAG logo on the bottle. If you insist on VAG spec, look for a VAG TPS dealer and ask them for a price, it should be very reasonable.

Out of interest, what is the warranty duration on the Alde heating system?
