As a one time residence of that area and a frequent visitor ever since, I wouldn't even take a panel van along the B3306 between St Just and St Ives unless it was a very small one!
If you wanted a scenic detour on the way to Tintagel take the B3301 from Hayle to Portreath and then back to the A30 on the B3300 joining it at Redruth. That is doable with all but the largest of motorhomes and there are plenty of stopping places on route. You see plenty of motorhomes parked on the cliff tops.

I knew that road would come up! 😁 It is a fabulous drive, but very very tight in places. Even confident drivers will have a few problems, because you can guarantee the one coming the other way won’t be good at reversing😂 We do recall buses, (double decker topless ones) doing it, but it is seriously tight in places, and taking your multi thousand pound pride and joy around it is another matter! The stretch from St Ives to St Just is the narrowest bit, and if you detour down to take in Sennen as well, then it’s gets even more interesting! Granite is seriously unforgiving. You can reach great view points and pull ins along it from St Ives, and from Penzance the other way. It’s those few miles where it twists and turns, runs through farms where it’s “interesting”😱
Its the route for Grand Depart of Tour of Britain in September. We are hoping to get our Caravan sorted so that we can use Jeep along those roads, cos I don’t think we would get all the way in our MH.

I think it was in Cornwall where, a few years ago I stopped our X-Trail hard up to the nearside hedge to let a cyclist by from the opposite direction.It was too tight and he had to put his bike on top of the low broad hedge on ny offside and press himself back into the hedge. I edged past thanking him and leaning out to ensure that I missed his toes by a few inches.

Lots of places like that indeed ET. We used to drive from a place called Bodinnick to Lerryn close to River Fowey. We had to put wing mirrors in both sides to get down some of route. Granite walls either side, gorgeous Cornish style. That was in a LR Defender. No chance in anything wider. 90 degree bends as well! Lanes usually start off quite reasonable, then you get deeper in and things get tighter......and tighter!😁 It’s all part of the fun though, we love it. Dartmoor can be very tight as well if you stray from the main roads. We got off near Ashburton one time with MH with millimetres to spare😱

We had similar with a big flock of sheep on Dartmoor. Sheep don’t reverse😂 All we could do was sit tight, windows up, engine off and let the little blighters wriggle past. We don’t take on bullocks though, they tend to take few prisoners and can do a lot of damage. It’s reverse or suffer....... Then there is the hold up know as a pig in a bucket, taking a ride out, highly amusing. Or the hedge thrashers that cover you in brashings and spiky bits, not so amusing. They are a September special, but at least after you can see the granite bits sticking out better😂
