I just can't imagine ever going to a campsite where there is a "rule" stating whether I can use a canopy - or an awning, or which side of the caravan I should put my car for that matter.

Nor can I. Happily neither applies when using a club awning pitch.

I don't know where you get that idea from. It has been clearly stated on the plan / site information leaflet (available online) for some time, that a van can go rear in or front in, thus altering the side on which the awning goes and the car is parked. Now we have a MH, which way the pitch slopes tends to dictate wether front in, awning on right, or rear in awning on left.

We no longer use an awning but whether we pitch nose in or nose out we generally prefer the car on the opposite side to the door nose in to give easy access to boot. However if we have been shopping and it is persisting down I will reverse car in on the door side to speed taking the shopping in from drivers side rear seat/cool box if used.

Similarly if we return to site in the afternoon and the sun is belting down the car is parked in the sun to give us the shady side to sit

It has been noted with quite a few of the reviews from members who have stayed or give advise to others about the tight and close pitching on sites of the type some stay on that are not in this countrysurprisedwink

Well if  eurortraveller based his beliefs on a knowledge of club pitching requirements regarding positioning of tow vehicles and awnings rather than speculation based, seemingly, on a knowledge of non club sites he may have come to the facts rather than fantasies David.

The only 3 metres over there that can be relied on is the entrance/exit gate tongue-out
