Hi, We are doing a 7 week tour of Scotland this April/May. We've booked 4 nights at Forfar Lochside to enable us to visit Glamis castle but reading the reviews I'm a bit concerned re damage to vans and the site feeling very commercial.  We prefer small and quiet sites. Does anyone have any other suggestions for this area or shall we just stick with Forfar.  Thanks

I don't recognise the site you describe as we were at Forfar Lochside last September and thought it a very nice site. Not sure how it could be described as feeling very commercial, it's just like many other Club sites. It's very handy for the town and as you are a caravanner and have car available Glamis Castle would be an easy trip from the site. My site review here http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/forfar_lochside_cmc_site.html

Are you sure about the information on this site?as the reviews do not seem to match your apprehension  apart from the Music in the shower block

There are a couple of CL's at Blairgowrie, No.1986 & 1987 in Site Directory which are not far from Glamis. We used the latter, Quarryhill, and it was ok.

Forfar Lochside is a site we had thought we would like to try, but it seems quite expensive, above our £20 low season budget, but have not seen any negative reviews.

Forfar is a quiet place, would not expect any problems there.

Just checked out the reviews on UKCampsite and they are all positive so it would be interesting to hear from the OP where he has heard of problems. The site is immediately next door to a Country Park.

    Hi,

Thanks so much for your replies.  The issue of damage was seen on a few very old reviews, kids throwing stones over the fence from the park next door. This has been mentioned on another review site too.  No problems though thanks, think we'll still go.

Forfar Lochside is fairly close to us 50 mins drive and that's on the back roads. We use it now and again as a pre - long trip test.

Lovely site next to the loch and an easy walk into town. There is a walk around the loch and there are playing fields next to the site, not often in use and usually just at weekends.

Not heard of any problems with kids throwing stones but if you are worried about that chose a pitch in the middle rather than on the periphery.
