The National is at Belvoir Castle this year from the 22 to 26 May. There will be live music, family fun and activities, competitions, trade stalls and great food as well as an on site bar.

Is anyone planning on going this year? if so what are you most looking forward to?

We usually go to The National Rally, making the the middle of a longer trip. This year it seemed even more of a good idea with The Caravan and Camping Club having scrapped their equivalent event.

However, the four days evening entertainment is a big part of the attraction for us and this year's selection does not seem up to the standard of past years so it throws the whole expedition into doubt.  Stays before and after are booked but these can be cancelled of course, and we could then spend the four weeks going somewhere else altogether.

Sorry to hear that Navigateur and we hope that you do come to visit us at the National.

The live music and evening shows this year include:

Bye Bye Baby on Friday 22 May. A tribute to the musical ‘Jersey Boys’ and the music of ‘Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’.

The Bootleg Beatles on Saturday 23 May. They are the first Beatles tribute band to hit the marketplace and are still up there as the number one tribute to The Beatles worldwide.

The Bowie Collection on Sunday 24 May. Featuring the finest work of David Bowie. This group of rock musicians, artists and performers recreate Bowie’s most recordings against a spellbinding backdrop of lights and visual magic.

And finally on Sunday 25 May we have the Club's very own concert band and singers performing famous soundtracks from movies. smile

The issue i have Ro, is there is no shortcut or information on the categories in the header bars above like years in the past.I cannot remember what category it was under though. Also it appears a real pain to find information on pre and post rallies unlike years previously.

Just seems very low key at the moment.

    Fozzie,

sorry you are having problems finding the details of the national. If you click on the Whats on tab at the very top of the page you will then see the link to the national and you will find all the details there.

Given the current situation I would hope it gets rearranged or cancelled.

I can see it being a huge financial loss whatever they choose to do, which will of course have to be covered by all members in either increased membership fees or larger than usual increases in site charges.

It is likely to pale into insignificance in relation to losses at sites, if all but essential travel restrictions are imposed, as in other countries. It is going to be a very difficult time for all businesses.

We had decided against going well before the virus scare.

We've attended the last 3 & in our opinion they've gone down in quality. The number of exhibitors seems to have decreased each year. The volume of the concerts has got so loud that at Ragley Hall we didn't need to go to one as it could clearly be heard all across the site.

Looking at the advert for this years event & I note 3 nights for £114, or £38 a night for grass & 6 amp EHU supplied by noisy, smelly polluting generators going 24/7! Hardly an ECO friendly setup & very poor value for the members.

In these days when emissions from engines etc. are the subject of many protests by various groups isn't it time the club faced up to its responsibilities & offered a more green option to its members.

We attended last years C&CC equivalent & enjoyed the option of a NON-EHU pitch for 4 nights for £80 including free evening entertainment. The off grid area was as busy as those who wanted to hook-up.

I will not attend a National while there is no non EHU option but I am a bit surprised that this years event has not been cancelled yet.
