Edinburgh site - great wardens!

Yes, firstly arrivals are till 8pm (far better than most) and outside of office hours there is always an on duty warden at all times. There is a sign on the office door to this effect either with a bell to ring or in some cases a mobile number to ring.

Good for you, David, but that was the terms of your contract to which you agreed. You did not have a fixed working week in terms of hours of attendance or number of hours worked which isn’t quite the same as a site warden’s terms of employment.

That’s good to know. So far I’ve not had any mishaps and haven’t needed them. It’s just that in the back of my mind, I seem to recall a sign on a ‘static’ (where the warden lived) asking people not to knock the door, so assumed they didn’t want to be disturbed.

It is good yes, usually their house, caravan or static will have a (was) green sign saying duty warden. Obliviously the service is just for emergencies but as you say reassuring.

This didn't suite some who seemingly would like to drag all sites down to the lowest common denominator for the sake of uniformity and immediately set about thinking up all sorts of reasons why it couldn't work elsewhere.
I must have missed that David. There are doubtless many sites where it would not work and perhaps some where it could.
The diversion onto the saintly qualities of wardens has become just too too silly , club membership or employment is not a pre-requisite for kind and pleasant dealings with the customer, it happens all the time outside club world.
I find that it happens all the time on CC sites as well David.

Quite so with regards to the irrelevance of guesswork regarding working hours which makes me wonder why you introduced the details of your own contract of employment which has no bearing on the subject whatsoever.

See my post at the bottom of page 4 - if there's been any "dragging down" it has been by those who for some reason, supposedly known only to themselves " have apparently been unhappy about a thread praising wardens at a club site!

What a strange analogy.
those who think 'CC world' is the pinnacle of touring probably havent come across a site that is well enough staffed to be able to manage tasks in parallel rather than in sequence.
Those that use CC sites do so because they presumably see that the sites provide what that customer wants and are not concerned about staffing levels. Certainly true for me and why they are generally my first choice and used for approximately 50% of my sites when touring

I don't think that I have ever had to call on a warden for help out of hours but I have certainly borrowed tools, sought info on nearby caravan workshops or mobile fitters etc. Also borrowed a vacuum cleaner when an oven door shattered.

I was hourly paid. worked long hours often, never claimed overtime in my last 20+ years of work ........ preferred single time back as time in lieu rather than time and a half in money. If I had work on site or was involved in an exhibition I would often get calls out of hours. If it took up more than 15 mins of my time I would book the time.

Hello, nice to see you back!
Not sneering, David, but a totally polite comment. Don’t judge me by your standards, please.

As long as you’re happy, Burts, nothing else matters.

so we now have a warden being 'attacked' according to two posters....
suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, no doubt.
theres nothing like keeping the drama up where none exists...and the choice of such words is just ridiculous.
it was just a throwaway line about how different folk might react to being 'called to arms' out of hours and how the proximity of the incident might make this a bit easier.
anyone in 'the service industry' has to realise their job involves dealing with 'pesky customers'....if thats not your thing....etc.
i find it amazing how some are 'hurt/offended/attacked (even)' b the most innocuous posts.
how do they manage in real life, i wonder?

"theres nothing like keeping the drama up where none exists…"
Something you’re a master at, BB. 😂😂😂😂

and the choice of such words is just ridiculous.
You know that is exactly what I thought about wardens being on hand 24/7 and being able to help with any problems on site by members as described as cossetting and hand holding .

Welcome back👍🏻

I started this thread to publicly acknowledge the hard work of the wardens. Now i am as guilty as anyone for topic drift and enjoy genuine forum banter however the comments being posted are totally disconnected and like kids in the infant school playground. Unfortunately i have to ask a moderator to either delete the off topic statements or close the thread.

I tend to agree that we have (as was bound to happen!) wandered off thread. Whilst it was nice of you to acknowledge the work of the wardens concerned I have thought you would have wanted that information to get through to the people concerned? I have my doubts that Club Together is the best medium for that to happen? That is why I suggested a review as I suspect it was more likely to come to the attention of those concerned. Despite what some have said it was my understanding that it was part of the job of Region Managers to monitor reviews of sites and from the wardens point of view nothing nicer than getting a pat on the back from your boss.
As requested I will close the thread as its probably run its natural course but thank you for posting.
David
