    Yep, see that.

The rule on club sites is that only cleaning for safety reasons is permitted, eg windows and lights. I do wonder though if this was a club site as the pitching arrangement in the distance looks a little odd.

Even so, it does suggest once again that the editorial staff don’t know a lot about the ways of the club.

We've given our Van a good wipe down with a cloth and bucket of soapy water at 3 separate Club sites & nothing has been said to us. I think a wipe down is fine but a complete wash with hose etc leaving mucky water on the pitch is out of order.

    Seems reasonable to me.

We only had a bucket and cloth not full blown wash just wiping dirt off from journey there as it was raining

I agree that what you all say sounds perfectly fine but that’s not the view the club takes.🤷🏻‍♂️

We have always ""rinsed" both our motor caravans and nearly all our caravans and tow cars with clean water with a long handle brush and /or mitten on club sites ,  but would not use chemicals ,unless the the waterless type, and have never been "admonished "by site staffwink

The Club does seem to shoot itself in the foot occasionally! As I understand it the reason the Club ban the washing of motorhomes/caravans (other than to allow safe driving) is the concern that cleaning materials will pollute the pitch surface. For all we know the lady in the picture may have just been using plain water and a sponge which is unlikely to pollute anything or it may have been a posed picture! However there does seem to be a disconnect sometimes between the Editorial team and the rules on the ground.

You should see the state of my towed car after some trips! It would be impossible to use it without a wash down. I use at least two small bucket fulls and a cloth while on site to do the deed..

On my way to a club site I had to drive over an extremely muddy building site acces and got an extremely snooty remark about the mud on the van as I booked in which I didn't think very helpful.  Was I supposed to wash it off before entering?

Does this mean that there are rules about the cleanliness of vans and MHs on site?  What next? How clean are the members?  How old is the van / MH?

The answer is to wash your van off when it’s raining , as your not adding any extra water to the pitch ,just moving it around a bit

I’m with you, One. Cleaning while on holiday is restricted to removing dead flies from the windscreen. LVs get dirty just by moving from site to site and there’s no room in my life for OCD about it.🙂

On the last two club sites we visited I got my hose out and just rinsed the caravan off! No objections from the wardens! It was only water!

I wondered if the objection was mud from the vans messing up the pitch.  In my case where it was quite muddy kicked up from the back wheel (which in theory had mud flaps but they didn't work).  I collected rain water off the caravan and snuck out with a sponge when no one was looking - not that I often bother but it was badly mud splattered.

Soon after arriving on site and after setting up, I walk over to the tap, fill a bucket and wash down the front of the van if the weathers been crap along the way.

How can I see onsite offenders of breaches in the rules through dirty windows?

We have a towing cover so no need to wash front of van.  Cover off and windows immediately available for twitching, o& the bird variety

and a big +1 to that. The car and caravan gets a good wash and inside clean before and after certainly not during.

That's certainly the case now we have a MH. We can manage to get it home for a clean. 12 metres of car and caravan just wasn't practical. Therefore it used to get a clean on site with a bucket of soapy water, plus wrung out cloth. Followed by a wipe over with a wrung out clean cloth. I didn't see a problem with this, as no more than a few drops hit the ground. Bucket being emptied at the facilities. I have occasionally had a chat with the warden as they passed by, whilst I was cleaning, and not had any adverse comments. I only ever did the sides, the roof being left for a once a year when it was serviced.
