Putting this on as we were supposed to be overseas but circumstances dictated otherwise and we ended up in Yorkshire. Pretty typical of our year but enjoyable nonetheless.

however, there was one within walking distance and places like Lidl and LeClerc make it so easy to pull in for those shopping and rest stops.
the large Welcome signs and designated parking places are a real contrast to some other places
in response to David's OP, this photo says a lot about our slow, impromptu journey back from the Western Algarve this spring, where we had many one/two nighters that didnt involve campsites and used loads of town and beachside parking to really get the feel of the country we were visiting.
probably because the stops were unplanned, we saw places we might not have and this really added to the interest and surprise...
hope to do plenty more of this on our (imminent) trip south..

A great day out and then chilling back at the van. Unfortunately, the 'chilling' image is too large and I've lost the will to live resizing it.
