    I am at a complete loss as to why the club should limit or even link its price rises to inflation? Is it offering a basic necessity? Is it subsidised by any public funding?

    Let them charge what they want and people will decide if they want to pay it. That is (I always assumed) how private business works?

    Your use of the word if  is interesting? So you do not consider at all that having looked outside they are happy to pay club prices?

    You do club site goes a great disservice.

    But it does not ever say promote caravanning as a charity for people who can't afford it.

    Just like any other club that promotes whatever. If I couldn't afford the local gym/camera/walking... club (insert your choice here) then sadly tough. 

    You did once say that you were not prepared to subsidise others by your membership/paying club insurance, and now you saying the club should do that and have lower price increases?

    Did all the spirits come in one night for you too?wink

    of course they can especially at times such as Christmas when demand is high in certain areas e.g. Brighton, possibly Southport although i have never been to the site, and particularly at Christmas the club will say that demand for utilities such as electricity is very high, yes that old chestnut, but it is probably true, heaters on 24x7, Christmas lights, short days so more television etc, what company would not milk it while they can, but as people have said "if you dont like it dont go", in some places  you could probably go to a reasonable hotel half board for 2 or 3 days for the cost of 15 days on a club site.

    Inflation 1.8% 

    Train fares  (for those who paywink) average 2.7% increase

    The electric breakdown on site Sat was £250 for the call out +about 2hrs  on site   Ps caused by a motor caravaner who had a fault and then plugging second lead (after dark) into another bollard frown

    , Everything is going up some ,noticable ,some only if as with this thread,  compared with the current and as seems a practice these days in most businesses run by accountants price things what they think the market can standundecided

    I don't want 3 days at present. I want 15 laughing

    A couple of nights in a hotel is OK but for longer We would wish a nicely finished annd furnished srelf cattering appartment. Probably at Southport up to £1,000 rather than £400

    I Agree.

    Whilst I accept the CC is a business not a charity, the increase this Christmas to next for a family with two paying kids is a staggering 43.5%. Perhaps the club is trying to cast itself in the roll of Scrooge.😂

    Where we are it has gone up £1.50 per night for a pitch and two adults, So I agree Hillhead ,is a very greedy increase and an explanation from the club would be "welcome"

    Same with Southport. Both sites have never been cheap and both popular.

    was it? no mention of that in the OP or anywhere in the tread. Only the increase from last year to this year.

    and the direction its taking prices not Xmas premium, and very predictably those who will pay just about anything for the privilege of a club site pitch turned the discussion around and like yourself came up with all the excuses to justify it

    Having reread the thread, again who is justifying it and where? Ruffs and others have only given some possible reasons.

    But what is a common theme that has been stated a number of times is that if you think the price is too high go somewhere else. That is so simple.

    Is this post locked? It alternately seems to be locked and open. This seems to be happening a lot lately. Presumably just one of the multitude of glitches that have manifested themselves, since they fiddled with the site a week ago.☹️

    if you want to pay £400 to sit on a soggy site in Southport for 15 days good on you enjoy, and whilst people are doing this in numbers the club will continue to up the prices and take your money without so much as a word of explanation as to why they have increased the prices way above inflation.

    Just put the heating on in our caravan, just to give it an airing for our Gkids sleep over, might just sit in it to read the newspaper once it has warmed up, that is as good as it gets for us during the winter months,laughing

    so now we know people are doubling up on bollards (after dark) , hope you grassed them up and the warden charged them double, no wonder pitch fees are so high.

    We're due to go to Sandringham on Sunday and I've just checked the price for the same week next year and it's only gone up by 2% or £5 - so I don't know what's going on at Hillhead? (And Sandringham is certainly popular since it's fully booked from next Tuesday through until the New Year).
