Hi

Does anyone else think £31 for a night on poolsbrook site for 20/12/19 is just ridiculous ?

I don’t think it seems excessive for peak season given the costs involved in running a site at that time of year, eg for increased electricity usage.

If I did think it was too expensive, I’d look elsewhere. 👍🏻

I can recommend a great CL not a million miles away @ £14 a night, HS, serviced pitch, EHU inclusive! Great views too.  smile

That’s another view, certainly, so is your reply to the OP "yes"?

It can only be offset by having fewer sites open in winter and increasing prices over holiday times when demand for electricity is even higher.

So it's not profiteering it's economic sense. IMHO. smile

I presume this will get transferred to the appropriate discussion section as this area is for stories not cost issues.

That's been the case for a long time in stories, in fact I can't remember if it ever worked. wink

I don't think it is for peak period, but as said never pay for anything you think is ridiculous.

20th December is start of school holidays and lead up to Christmas. Many popular sites increase prices by around £4 to £6 a night at that date. I am presently on site at CMC Southport site from 13th to 28th December and will have the same mark up from 20th. The nearby commercial site further out from Southport changes prices on that date from low season to peak weekend rate throughout the Christmas School holidays

For the specific date you mention it does look as though the CC have extended peak just a little bit too much before Christmas. Currently there are only 30% of the 85 pitches booked. Although there could be a late rush.🤔 In comparison the following Friday has 81% occupancy.
However, generally I do not think the Christmas break overpriced.

Posted above and got page not found. Only way I could get back into the thread was to go in from my profile.

    This site is falling apart.☹️

agree about the forum....been trying to read another thread and can see the first 6/7 pages then just a 'page not found' message after that....i and i even tried the 'via profile' method....no good either.

also agree with your post re prices, £31 is high at anytime for a Club site and the way 'peak' is being extended soon wont leave any days that arent peak.

crikey, pick up a good B&B for not much more than £30 in Southport, used to cycle from Blackburn to Southport when i was a kid and return home with a bag full of scrumped apples from the orchards on the way home, from reading the right up it would appear not a lot has changed in Southport, interestingly on the web it says prices from £14.50 enjoy laughing

Just shop around, it’s not difficult. There’s usually an alternative of some sort, maybe not exactly the same but perfectly adequate. 🤔🙂

I think you will find that if you post a reply in the Story Section you can't quote. Although it initially appears as though the quote system is working when you press the post button it only show the name of the original poster in the quote, any other text is lost.  I am Not sure when this changed but I imagine the idea behind it is to stop the discussions in that section? However once it is moved into the discussion area the ability to quote comes back, hence the reason for my test post in this discussion. It would be better if people come across a discussion topic posted in the Story Section that they hold back from replying until we have had the opportunity to move it into the right part of the forum.
