A warden here at Ferry Meadows was telling us that numerous members on "tours"arrive here for a couple of days  and then keep  booking on as there is so much in this area also Norfolk is an easy day out, then wonder how they are going to "advise" others that they have spent so much time at Peterborough surprised

Is there something wrong with Peterborough?

There is certainly plenty to see.  We have stayed at Ferry Meadows several times, also at Cambridge, Norfolk Broads, Sandringham, Lowestoft and near Harwich, so have been to the city of Cambridge (twice), Duxford, Wimpole, Anglesey Abbey and the Broads,  but not been around so much in Suffolk.

It is certainly an area we are drawn back to time and time again. In the last five years we have stayed at about 16 times on various sites, some sites more than once in that time. But as they say variety is the spice of life so we do also like to try other areas as well.

We have a very nice cruise booked in the Far East in February but otherwise I think it will be some old favorites and  maybe one or two new ones.We tend to like Cumbria and Scotland but I do like Cirencester as well.

I highly recommend the New Forest Tda we  went there this summer and had 2 wonderful weeks there at the club centenary site. There was plenty to do in the area Beaulie car museum being a favourite of ours. Also Dorset is right on the doorstep too so we managed to get to Bournemouth and Poole. That was our new place this year and hopefully we will get back another time.

Unfortunately due to circumstances our touring season will be starting a bit later next year. We normally have a few days away between Christmas and New year then start the new season at the beginning of Feb but it’s looking like it will be nearer the end of March (hopefully) before we will be on the road again. We have had a few thoughts about destinations for the coming year we will probably get to a few old haunts such as Berwick, The Lakes and Chester. Our main summer holiday is booked already and combines old and new. Our first week will be in familiar territory as we are booked on to Hillhead in Brixham a place we know very well and have been to many times. Our next two weeks will be at Minehead which is a new place for us so looking forward to that.

OH adores cars, so Motor Museum would be a must see. We had a nice long holiday in Dorset years ago, enjoyed that immensely, but time we went back.

I can highly recommend the Minehead area. Haven’t used the Club Site, we stayed at Burrowhayes Farm when we took van. But we did have a lovely cottage holiday staying in Dunster, beautiful place. Porlock and Porlock Weir are nice as well. We like Exmoor. Lynton and Lynmouth are very nice as well. 😁

TDA Beaulie was great we spent the whole day there and still didn't see everything but it was great I even got my pic taken with Del Boys van which was parked outside for an exhibition. The café was excellent too.

We're off to Northumberland in May - which is a new one for us.  Low Hedgeley Farm - based on recommendations from CT.  We don't know that area very well at all, so that should be interesting. We're also going to our favourite CS near Malton for Easter - so that's a regular for us and I always enjoy being there. Truth of it is, we have become very friendly with the owners - as we have with John and Kim at High Breame CL, near Flamborough and it's as much about going to see them as it is staying on their site. Perhaps I'm getting a bit set in my waysfrown

Trips in Jan - March will no doubt be planned directly after Christmas.

    Honestly I can say I'm not into planning 2020's hols yet excepting the one place I won't be seeing again. So far  I've only received the first magazine with " Claiming Dates " listed, so, when the second arrives I'll start filling the A B M Calendar up, smile, Just might get into the Cornwall / Devon sort of area if I can get this darned " Islands off Scotland" theme out of my skull { Some posters on 'ere do 'ave a lot to answer for cry }

Good choice. We love Northumberland and stayed at Low Hedgeley when it was a Cl. My three blogs on the area might give you some ideas of what there is to see.

It’s a place we return to every year, full of all the wonderful things we love....beaches, castles, battlefields, Roman ruins, churches, nice food, and not a lot of humans if you pick your spot and time of visit!😁

R&R, LHF should suit you down to the ground, with a couple of good dog walks from the site. Can recommend Chillingham Castle for a visit, definitely a bit different from the usual. Lots of other great places close by too. Alnwick has the usual supermarkets for stocking up as well as it's castle.

    Likewise to Harwich.

They only pulled into Plymouth because ship sailing with them had issues 😉

The captain of the Mayflower's house is being converted into a temporary museum for the years celebrations!

Also Dartmouth and probably every other South Coast port.

It doesn’t seem 5 minutes ago that we had Drake 400.

It’s a fine city Frank and a great base for discovering lesser-known but lovely bits of Cornwall like Kingsand & Cawsand, Rame Peninsular, Mount Edcumbe, Whitsand Bay (via Cremyll and Torpoint Ferry) or, on the Devon side, South Hams area - Newton Ferrers/Noss Mayo, Mothecombe, Bantham, Thurleston beaches. South Dartmoor on the doorstep as well - Burrator, Princetown, Merrivale & Two Bridges.

Now you’re talking.... spent many a rowdy evening in the Victualling Office Tavern near there in the 1980s.

There’s always a tension between living in a much visited location and keeping the hidden gems to yourself. I take friends and relatives to cornish beaches that are largely empty in July/August, but wouldn’t want to encourage others too much!

Some of you sound really organised.  We haven't started to think about our main holiday jaunt yet - haven't even decided whether it will be UK or Continental Europe.  We do lots of short trips though Sunday lunch until Wedneday evening (or Thursday morning).  These we only decide last minute...  🙂

Really enjoyed reading this thread and about   everyone's plans. I've been very lucky and have travelled extensively around Blighty with only the most northerly parts of Scotland yet to do. For us, it's a case of pastures new, starting with a trip to Dumfries & Galloway (CL) on the 28th until the new year. March it's Scarborough, followed by  Whitby, April it's Peak District, followed by North Devon in July, a second week in South Devon and back home before the school holidays start! Late September and a special trip for a 'special' birthday to Tromso, Norway and hopefully the Northern lights (not in caravan) Still planning to get up to Scotland late September/October. Happy & safe travels to you all

Tromso is a bit 'special'. Visit the Tromsdalen kirk, AKA The Arctic Cathedral, across the bridge. The museum there is quite interesting.
