Re-fillable gas systems
do I need a re-fillable gas system fitted with external fill point or can I just buy a re-fillable bottle

A "freestanding" refillable bottle like Safefill enables you to take it for refilling independent of your vehicle although most outlets are a bit twitchy about it. Gasit & Gaslow are generally, AFAIK, fitted with a filler pipe permanently installed on the MH. These makes have a separate inlet & outlet, unlike the Safefill which utilises the POL connection.
I have a Safefill in a side locker and usually disconnect the pigtail before visiting the garage. I also have an extension tube which screws into the POL fitting which makes connecting the filler hose easier.

You can do either, Idris, but a fixed filler point can prove less troublesome at garages from the 'twitchy' point of view whereas a bottle is easier to isolate if using ferries or the Tunnel.
I have a Gasit system with underslung tank and filler in the side of the van. However, I fear for the day that auto gas vanishes from garage forecourts.
Have you seen this thread? It could prove useful.

We have a Gaslow system with 2 bottles and a fixed filling point on the side of the van. We could not fit in one large bottle so started with a smaller one and later added the second.
Despite this being in a caravan, we have had no problems accessing LPG pumps, it would be even easier with MH, and we fill up en route as required.
We chose a fixed system many years back to avoid any problems with being allowed to fill a portable bottle.
