The original post was put up in June 2018 stating it was for the release dates of sites one year ahead. It only has four release dates for either 2019 or 2020. I don't usually bother with it until now. I have just looked at booking a popular site for Dec 2020 this morning and it is now I have noticed the post has never been updated properly.

I haven't been able to book the site because the booking page won't let me. So when can I book for Dec 2020

They will probably be available after 4th December 2019 Harry. It’s usually around 4th of month when they are released. However, given that the prices change in Jan of each year, there might be a bit of a delay for December.

And no.......you won’t be able to book for January 2021 if your holiday covers Xmas and New Year, you have to book that in January 2020! But the Wardens will combine the booking if you phone the Site!

I wonder how many folks still expect Frenzy Day next week?😁

Edit: there was a quite recent thread about booking York RP over this period, and it had some good information provided by Rowena. Sadly, the thread got hijacked, and was closed. It appears to have been completely Deleted User now, or I would have copied and pasted Ro’s information for you.🤔😁

Still wont stop them booking every weekend at the popular sites and then cancel when not needed. luckily l am retired so just take advantage of the  midweek bookings. if we want a couple of weeks we use the off peak times, nearly always get what we want

Baltic wharf would be full this year as it is very popular for Xmas and New year also the Xmas market in Bristol is the "place to be" in that area ,but if you are talking about next year then go on line this wednesday 4th Dec

The other thing to look our for with Baltic Wharf bookings is the "Grass Pitch" chart which always comes up first and is always "full." A pity this has been left on, people need to scroll down past this area when the release dates become available.

    TTDA

    Thanks for that.

It sounds like the Deleted User post may have given some answers, pity.

Earlier this afternoon I phoned the site in question and asked the warden's advice. His reply was a bit vague. The dates I want to book are from 28/12/2020 to 2/1/21. He told me you can't book more than exactly 12 months in advance so for my booking to start on the 28/12/2020 i would have to phone on the 29th. This didn't make sense as by the 29th the site could be full by those booking on the 28th or earlier. Odd. So it would seem that what Rowena posted 18 months ago about an early date in any said month and your comments and others comments mentioned on here re the 4th Dec seem the date to go by.

I am at Hawes at the minute so will check with the wardens here in the morning

Harry, if I recall it correctly, Rowena posted in the other thread that from 4 Dec 2019 bookings would open for dates through to 31 Dec 2020. I suggest you try next week on 4th and see what's available.

I think you will then have to wait until the New Year - the first Wednesday of Jan 2020? - for January 2021 dates to be released thus booking your break in two parts.

Think you have got that spot on Tinny. I did recall that it would need two bookings to span into New Year.😀

My booking is going into the first two days of a new month. So if we try and forget about the term New Year and look at the first three days of a new month which must be the way the system operates now. If the open date of every new month is the 4th then how do you book the previous three days. These three days must be allowed to be booked with the previous month.

Perhaps given Rowena's explanation was in the Deleted User post she may give another explanation when she is back to work tomorrow

I’m pretty sure that’s what Ro posted. It’s rather a shame that the sticky thread isn’t updated regularly, or a timetable published, as that would eliminate any doubt.

It’s my belief that bookings usually open on the first Wednesday of a month so, for December 2020, bookings will open this Wednesday coming, 4th. This will allow you to book from 1 Dec 2020 up to 31 Dec 2020. The November release will already allow bookings up to 30 Nov 2020.

The January 2020 release will then cover the period 1 Jan 2021 to 31 Jan 2021.

Given the pollution regulations being introduced, will not this be somewhat academic from an access point of view?

This was the explanation given to me from the warden at Hawes this morning. It was read from wardens documented notes.

As from 9am Wednesday 4th of December bookings can be made for December 2020 through to 3rd Jan 2021. This covers the Xmas and New Year period.

So New Year is bookable from start to finish as long as it ends by the 3rd Jan

Then the process starts over again from the 4th of the month as has been stated

They’ve extended it to cover the NY, Harry, which makes perfect sense although it differs from the info Ro posted.

Oh well, you’re covered so no problem.👍🏻

Hi harryb, I'm so sorry for the confusion. You can book the following month on the first Wednesday of every month. I've updated the original discussion to advise.  As such booking for December (up until 31st December 2020) will be tomorrow (4th December).

All sorted for next NewYear at Knaresborough from 28th Dec to 2nd Jan. Got through to booking office dead on 8.45 and phone was answered immediately.

Bookings can be made until the 3rd

Just as an aside I logged onto the web site at 7.40 just for a look. There was a bright orange message saying bookings would be open at 8.45am and that I was 83rd In the queue. Also here at Castleton the warden told me her phone had been ringing since 8.20am Seems as though Frenzy Day is still with us.

Does seem a bit daft though, that at sites that close on the 6th Jan 2021  you can still only book until the 3rd. Presumably the last two days of opening will become available next month.

It’s concerning that we’re getting mixed messages. The info from Ro states that we can book through to 31 Dec 2020 whereas Harry has established we can book to 3 Jan 2021.

It’s no wonder people are confused!

I wanted to book a pre Christmas stay at York RP for 2020. So I finished work early and logged on at 3:30pm, unfortunately at 3:30 every weekend in December had been booked up. We wanted to book a 8 night stay but because the weekends have gone we can't go.

Bring back Frenzy Day I say.

Why not book the dates that are available and hope to fill in the gaps later? I’d have thought that preferable to throwing in the towel at this early stage as you might pick up a cancellation nearer the time.
