Checked availability last Thursday and there were lots of pitches.  Went in today to book and it shows full/closed from today until Thursday.

Cant find any info to show why.

    Ann

It does look a bit strange that from Friday to Friday there is no availability but there is no indication on the site information page that there is a problem. I wonder if there is some sort of event happening this week, perhaps to do with the East Lancs Railway? Maybe, as JVB suggests, you need to persist with the telephone.

I checked the East Lancs Railway site.  Only the Santa Specials on Sunday, nothing else.

Im almost sure there were over 30 free pitches the other day, and even if there was an event on it would probably only affect the Sunday.

We will probably look at a private site, there’s one at Blakemere Village that we have used before

No answer from the club about the problem at Burrs, would have thought someone was monitoring the this site

You might need to give us a  clue as to what the problem at Burrs is? Also probably better to raise it in it own thread rather than trying to add it to an unrelated thread.

On your point about monitoring posts on this forum. I am sure people do look in on the discussions but it would be best not to rely of issues being picked up on. You can of course report any comment in a discussion to highlight the thread to admin which might get a reply.

David, the problem is that the web site is showing that there are no pitches available this week up to Friday, which doesn't seem likely at this time of the year, so perhaps there is a problem on the site which has not been indicated on the web page.. The OP was asking why there was no pitches there, so Heethers was asking if there was a problem there because of that.

I recall that there were some problems with the incoming supply of electricity a few months ago and it was said at the time that it would be necessary to disconnect the present supply for a short while so that the new equipment could be connected.  Perhaps that is what is being done just now.

I'd phone "The Brown Cow" and ask, since they will have noticed the drop in customers even if the site staff have not chatted with them.

no obvious evidence of anything electrical being done

According to the Site App the toilet block is being refurbished and is currently being used half at a time as a unisex facility. This has probably necessitated the lowering of site capacity whilst the work is being undertaken. This might explain why they are restricting bookings. The work is being done this week and next but not over the weekends. Hope that helps

That's good to know David, would have been helpful if a notice had been added to the on line booking page for the site.

The note actually says November. Unless they have got it wrong and it is December.

    Site information
Please Note: Due to renovation works in the shower areas only half the toilet block will be open, offering unisex facilities, from the 4-8 and 11-15 of November.

4-8 and 11-15 would fit with weekdays in November.

It does, otherwise it would be from tomorrow until Sunday and again from next Wednesday until the Sunday after that; and that does incorporate 2 weekends.

I agree with TG, why not have a note on the booking page; unisex doesn't bother me in the slightest, as "over there" that's often the case, but not everybody likes that arrangement.

Having now checked out the Burrs page I did notice the information that Steve refers to. Can't say its that noticeable, I would have thought something more obvious would have been better, say a banner across the picture or something printed in red to draw the eye. If that had been the case then I'n sure the OP would have noticed it and this thread would not have happened.

Well, I had another look too, and found it eventually, but as you say, it's hardly in an obvious place.

BUT, it does say November, and we're now in December, and the dates until Friday did/do show as full, so is that actually the reason?

    Confused from Lancashire......

I did notice it, but as I was looking to go on Sunday December 1st it wasn’t really relevant.  Same sex toilet blocks don’t worry me a bit and in winter they usually lock half the toilet and privacy cubicles anyway so not much difference there wink.

It must have been unplanned because there were over 30 free pitches when I checked mid week but by Friday there were none.  We hope to get another couple of days in before Christmas so I will find out then....hate a ‘mystery’.
