Hello, my name is Malcolm Floyd and I'm very new to this game. I bought a very nice Elddis Majestic 105 on 20th June this year, but unfortunately pranged it on.... wait for it.....20th June!  We are just about to get it back from the repairers (don't ask!) and want to get away for a few days in November/early December.  We live in Barton on Sea (Hampshire) but don't want to travel too far afield.  We are thinking Somerset/Wiltshire or thereabouts and would like a nice site with a clubhouse.  Any recommendations would be gratefully received. Thank you.

No clubhouse but a good location for a few days is Devizes C&CC site. Pub and bus stop virtually adjacent and pleasant walks/cycle along the Kennet & Avon.

Agree with CY about Devizes if you're in the other club. There's also Brokerswood near Westbury which has a shop and restaurant on site which might fit the bill. Or Plough Lane (adults only) near Chippenham with a good pub just a stone's throw away.

In Somerset you could look at the club site in Dulverton - no clubhouse on site (fortunately wink) but plenty of pubs and eateries just a short walk away.

Hope you find something to suit.

Hi all, I really appreciate your prompt and helpful responses.  I was aware that there were very few sites with a clubhouse within the two big clubs' ambits (especially those open all year round) but felt sure that somebody would come up with something, and you have come up trumps.  The link that peedee gave was brillant, really helping you to narrow down your search.  Thanks also moulesy for the Dulverton mention - this was also recommended in this month's C&M magazine. Can't wait to get on the road!

You could also try the CAMC site at Hillhead in Torbay, it has a restaurant and shop. Check out the site details and times of bar opening etc. Towards Christmas there will be increased activities on site. It's a good place to stay for easy access to Dartmouth, Torquay and Totnes.

Here's a LINK to the festive season schedule, just to give you an idea.
