That time of year again.
Just to remind folk again about Dogs and Chocolate , obviously lots of it about this time of year in our homes and the risk of children and others feeding it to them without knowing the harm it does .
We know somebody who lost their 4 year old Boxer because he found and ate a whole Aero Bar

If anybody is planning to visit Cornwall currently, there has been a spillage of palm oil that has washed up on some north coast beaches. Apparently very hazardous to dogs, but at least it won’t get made into chocolate!

We have had cats and dogs over the years. When we had our first cat, and probably our second year in family a Sticks and Bricks home after a mobile home the tree was up and decorated. We had foil wrapped chocolate figures hanging from the tree. For some reason I took hold of one whilst talking and it collapsed. There was just the foil left and the cat had gotten into the bottom and licked all the chocolate out.

Actually the list goes on. Garlic, onion, dried fruit, Even some essential oils in an oil burner, not even licked.

SB, this happens regularly in your area hasn’t the authorities/Govt got to the bottom of it yet🤷🏻♂️. The pollution alone is not acceptable😕

You’re right, Rocky.
The thought is that it's discharged either by accident or on purpose from unknown ships and, tbh, there’s little can be done other than clean up afterwards. Sometimes likely culprits are identified but I’ve yet to hear of any action ensuing.☹️

Sadly the process of cleaning ships tanks and discharging edible oils into the sea is entirely legal and permitted by the International Maritime Organisation as long as the ship owner follows certain rules e.g. 12 nautical miles offshore. It forms into big floaty ’fatbergs’ and soon ends up on our beaches. It’s disgusting as is the story of palm oil in so many ways!
