I'm quite sure that any insurance company will take a view of the flood risk at each postcode where your RV is normally stored and adjust their premium accordingly.

I would have thought that they do that already?

No I have not checked what other companies have posted that might affect new business following CMCs restrictions for new policies. Why would I. I would not want to presently take a new CMC policy with current temporary restriction, would you?

If we are talking about a 'spat' with the CMC cover on existing policies JVB I don't have a 'spat' just my personal concerns and reasons for not renewing based on previous experiences. Pretty simple as I have said that CMC offers god cover if you are happy but that it is not for me.

Please don't play the man as there is far too much of that on forum at present don't you think. And yes I am guilty of minor retaliation. Human nature perhaps

Big Flood was Summer 2007. Affected Cotswolds, right up into South Yorks very badly. I know, I drove the route from Cornwall along Fosse Way (damned clever those Romans, build their roads about flooding level in the most.) Chinooks overhead, dozens of abandoned cars. Even M1 was closed at home. It could have affected lots of other areas as well, but that was route I drove. Home was safe, up a very big hill. Businesses and properties flooded out then, have either done without insurance, or paid huge premiums. I know one property that was rebuilt on a platform in case it flooded again. It did, last week.

of course i would, i do not live in an affected area, and whilst all the yellow warnings etc are in force I would not travel in/to those affected areas, once levels have decreased then if required i will travel into those areas but would be extra vigilant. I think, along , with some others, that the club have made the right decision, why take on additional risk, all of us who have exsisting cover are not affected by the current restrictions so no problems,  but will still be sensible and extra vigilant.

Then as some have said , without any evidence-based poor service or lack of being covered  for a claim, then the majority of posts "complaining" about caravan cover are in the majority by those , who although being members will find any  "excuses " to knock an organisation that seems to be accepted as the place to be by many thousands of members which is shown, by use they make of the services that are on offercool

This is a quote from a well known insurance companies guide to caravan insurance.

"With touring caravans, it's difficult to be very prescriptive about where they're going to be kept," Ed continues, "But certainly if it's a location where there's a history of flooding, you should check your policy documents carefully to ascertain if your caravan is still covered."
So whilst the vast majority of the UK is open for touring caravanners to explore, a certain level of caution is recommended when looking at a riverside pitch."

Then there are others who will defend it to the hilt no matter how bad the scenario as they cannot see past their rose tinted glasses while wearing blinders.  laughing

Works both ways and if people never complained nothing would be done to improve the service and address shortfalls.

I am unsure, in your case JVB, whether your post was directed at me or a more general comment.

I am very happy with CMC and hence why I have been a member for more than half my lifetime.

I agree, but then there are those who would ,and do via their posts complain,it seems, because they have no reasoned answer,  and as can been seen on CT then try to swerve the thread away from giving a strait answer to anyone asking for oneundecided

I am sure you know what you meant JVB.

There are those that post in complaint (presumably because of some aspect of CMC.

Not sure why they complain about CMC in that case because they themselves do not have a reasoned answer. Do you mean that because they cannot answer a posters question they resort to an attack on CMC?

Is your your belief that they attack CMC rather than answer the other poster's question?

So rather than clarify you decide to post a daft message. I said earlier that comment was free. In your case that is just as well because as cheap as that comment is (even with the value added emoticons) it is worthless to me. Perhaps somebody else appreciates cheap.

They try to  swerve the thread  to try to not come out with a reasoned reply to any posts that they are , as most notice ,on the back foot withwink

Presumably because this unknown company profess to give great cover

For what its worth, my existing Club policy is to be renewed in the coming week or so. Having spent well over an hour on the phone to the club and Devitts this morning I can honestly say the status of my existing policy and anything I may get in two weeks is now a mystery.

I am sceptical about the present debacle.

I do not understand why the club has all but dumped the caravan insurance customers, but retained Motorhome, Camprevan, car etc Insurance customers. I know what my "gut feeling" is telling me.

well there you go again making stupid statements, this particular company is of renowed reputation, and probably been in the insurance business for longer than you have been in the club x 2. No i will not give you the name for fear i will start another argument re being biased even though i do not use them.undecided but you can find them on the web,
