Update on 2020 Prices

I think most folks are well used to the rolling programme now tbh, there is the odd exception if something is in offing. If you book early enough, neither are hard to get into to be honest. It helps because the Club allows cancellations right up to a late point of course, but that’s another can of worms discussed frequently. 😱

I've just booked for October and November 2020, within one day of this year's dates but same length and the price was exactly the same.

That's odd because just 6 hrs ago I booked for next Oct and the price had risen quite a bit from this year. All sites, apart from the published six, have risen by 2.8%. When I mentioned the steep increase the warden said that because I had booked before the implementation date the stated price, on the confirmation email, would be discounted by the 2.8% bringing it back down to the stated price of today. Must remember to keep the email.

sorry - I though it odd too, but when I looked closely the pounds came to the same and there was about 60p difference which I didn't notice so apologies for the exactly phrase, but I think I've worked out why.
This year's was a mixture of mainly off peak and some peak (as the half term over there was the week before ours) while next year's is all peak, but it has come to the same amount (give or take a few pence) by a stroke of luck.
Anyway I'm paying the same so I can't complain and it might even be less!

However you said that it was difficult to find "any CLs" with facilities....it wasn't that difficult was it? I think that 1 in 4 is in fact quite a good ratio.

Joining the “free” electricity debate, can anyone clarify the usage etiquette for mains-charged PHEVs? We witnessed a member plugging his V60 in to the site supply, via a connector fitted to his caravan, every night of his stay at a CL near Truro this Summer. I dread to think of the costs on a big site if these cars become more popular. No wonder the Club has to increase site fees.
Can we expect free diesel as compensation when we all have to pay the extra?😂

In the winter months I don't really see it as a problem, if your using it to charge the car, you can't use it for heating. In summer, as in your post, I think it will become a real problem as the numbers of these vehicles increase. Currently the club have said they don't have a problem with it. However, I think it is an issue they will have to address in the very near future.

Volvo V60 Hybrid can be charged on various settings including 6amp and the advice is that at 6amp it will take between 7.5 and 10 hours to charge so it is perfectly possible to charge car overnight whilst running electric heating on a CC 16amp supply

On a CL it’s entirely up to the site owner whether car charging is permitted. The club’s decision to allow charging via the caravan on club sites doesn’t apply to CLs.

I think it is up to the CL owner but for club sites you are allowed to charge your car as you will. There is no max usage for your heating so none for your car subject to the max of 16A.

I see that more and more CL owners are stating that electric vehicles can't be charged on their sites.

Can’t say I blame them when they’re already working on fairly tight margins.

All sites will have a problem with owners of electric cars, we caught two users plugging their cars into the electric points and charging their motors free in one week, They will also use a second point, if it is available quite brazenly in the day .This will become a real problem as more electric cars are used.has anyone an answer to this problem?

of course not, have you paid for any diesel as part of your pitch fees?
Why do you want something without paying for it?

I have read a lot of the previous comments. I was annoyed to see the site price increases again in 2020. I travel alone, in a small Romahome. I use the Showers and Washing up facilities. I don't have a Television just a radio, charge my phone, boil kettle (Low Wattage) run the small fridge and if I get cold I have a low wattage fan heater. I might plug in a small DVD player and watch something for 30 minutes or so. I get a small discount as a single person but the site fee element is the same as that charged to those with bigger outfits, Tv's, microwaves etc.etc.
I use the Club sites as I like the security and the clean warm toilet blocks. I have used Caravan and Camping sites but the only one I was really happy with was on the Isle of Skye. Excellent site and facilities others I've used have had miserable, press button showers and decor that reminds one of end of the range paint supplies and odd colours and you are directed to a pitch.
So I pay for a better quality site but I frequently question is the pricing fair to single people like me who use minimal electricity.? I do think some of the "Improvements" at sites are unnecessary e.g.additional fencing around facilities. Norfolk Broads site at Ludham is a prime example of extra, unnecessary fencing when I was there in 2018. It was fine as it was in 2017. It must have cost a lot of money.
I would like to see the club consider its charging structure for small outfits and single over 70's like me because I do think it is unfair at the present time.I don't doubt there are many of you who will disagree.

You have my sympathies LJ. The Club doesn’t differentiate between huge outfits and small outfits, although at least you only pay pitch fee and one adult. We only have a smallish MH, and we have found a few very nice small private sites that recognise the difference in outfit sizes, and are prepared to offer a smaller price. They are out there, with very nice facilities if you can do a bit of research. There are also some very nice CLs that offer a lot of facilities and at very reasonable prices.

From what you have described you personally may well use a low amount of electricity but why would small outfits necessarily use less electricity just by being small?
One could have a small outfit and still use more electricity than a larger outfit? And what would be classed as a small outfit?
As for being single that is already accounted for in the pricing structure.
Also others could equally say I don't use the showers and washing facilities so I should pay less.
I would say it is impossible for the club to address all possible combinations.
Also, it could be said why should those younger than you subsidise your stay? Again why at 70, why not 60? or just those retired (yes please)?

Whether you use a small wattage kettle or larger wattage makes little difference other than the lower wattage may well use more lecky as during it's longer boil it has more time to radiate heat.
I have not looked recently but have thought that the CMC price for a single camper was very good compared to many alternatives that include two adults as standard. I lost my wife at age 43 and at age 45 I had the intention of giving up work at age 53 (ish) as my youngest would have finished college. and putting house on the market, buying a smaller property but going off touring for 10 months of the year. It did not happen because, also at age 45 having recovered from 9 months of depression I decided to run a singles group to add meaning to my life by giving back and helping others. One result was meeting my present partner when I was approaching 46. The last thing that I was looking for was a woman .... but life happens. have always liked the Romahome. Wnjoy

You’ll still find me there, MM👍🏻

I wouldn’t bet on it......we like lots of space.😂
My physics was always dodgy at school, but I somehow can’t imagine it takes as much energy to heat a six foot Romahome, as it does to heat a twenty foot mobile bungalow.........?🤔 Assuming you are looking to maintain the same ambient temperature of course. That’s sort of like saying it takes the same energy to heat a terraced house v Chatsworth?
