Where are you looking? We've stayed at many over the past 2 or 3 years. When I say "as good as club sites" I mean a heated facility block with a reliable hot shower and a working toilet. Not much else I need while on site really! Just 3 examples here -
Wortley Hall (near Sheffield)
Foxhill Farm (New Forest)
Woodville (near Shrewsbury).
Others will have similar suggestions I'm sure.

Strange that, Tda, when I checked both Aberbran and Bromyard it said that they were going up from £15 to £20, but now when I've tried again the statement, the same as the one for Cadeside, has disappeared. Most puzzling!

Nothing surprises me Nellie. I can’t recall a year when information in SD has corresponded with website details, so every year can be a Magical Mystery Tour! If I am feeling bolshie, and got a cheaper price in SD I might argue my case! 😂

Maybe the club could save a bit of money by whittling down on some of the top payed staff that work so hard for us. Do we need CEO's and such like to run a club. Don't get me wrong the people who do the day to day running answering phone and sorting out our problem's are essential and earn there wage, but top brass what do they all do and what do they earn.

The C&CC are cheaper for us because of the 'age' discount as Kj said
The ref re 'camping background' was initially made by someone else. In an explanation as to why some folk who now take part in our hobby are not used to using facility blocks and not having electric.

Camping background was my turn of phrase MT. When we first toured, a long time ago, you were not connected to electric other than a battery, so other forms of keeping warm, cooking, keeping clean were used. It was normal to make do with less than one had at home. You don’t have to now, so the electrical usage climbs ever higher with more and more gadgets, necessities. All the luxuries.......but at a price. Anyone without a bit of background might just use everything in their outfit as they almost do at home. That’s why you get folks posting about ehu tripping, running out of water half way through a shower etc..... Not a criticism by the way, folks tour how they wish to, doing what’s ok for them.

Cadeside appears to be the only one of the (Pitch for £15 group) to increase to £20 most have remained at £15 . But I think Cadeside must be the smallest Club Site, but has a very big storage area which I believe the charges are also set for large price rise for 2020
Perhaps the Club considers close to the M5 route to Devon/ Cornwall justifies the big increase

It’s definitely a bit of a peculiar site, sounds more storage compound than holiday residence, although it looks a nice place. A good overnight stop for many.

To hard to police and infringes on members freedom. If members want to use all manner of electrical appliances I don't have a problem with that as long as the energy is paid for by the individual just like if they were at home. Just don't expect others to willingly pay for their use through higher site prices.

The prices for 2020 have been available for months, as part of the rolling monthly booking system. They don’t come into use until January 2020. So book for a date after 6th January, and you have a very good idea of what you will pay.
I understood the email to say that the prices already published (re rolling booking) will be going up. So we don't really know yet what they will be.

I'd have thought 56 CLs with facilities within a 50 mile radius of anywhere was pretty good actually.
There are plenty of folk on here unhappy about the fact that too many CLs have gone down the route of providing facilities.

Yes that’s right Goldie, it’s like it was last year. It will probably only be tiny amounts added to those currently showing, the big tremor has occurred, just awaiting the after shock now!😁

I would call 1:4 a good ratio. CLs were never intended as replacements for Club Sites, with all of the bells and whistles they provide. Without knowing where you live, it’s hard to comment further, but we tend to look at destinations further away than 50 miles. That’s a day trip for us! 😁

I would partly disagree here regards electric usage, yes I think we all carry more gadgets (phone/tablet etc) but most appliances are now more economical to run than a few years ago. i.e. I just bought a new TV for our home kitchen and got rid of a 15 year old model, the new one is far more economical to run than the old one, same for 12v TV's (Avtex et al) used in vans that take a few amps to run. Admittedly we may now have 2 TV's in the van (we do not) and I know some like to sit in the awning and keep warm with a heater even if it is low wattage halogen so use more. But we do not want to go back in time and have cold showers, extra jumpers, scrape ice off the inside of the van do we, after all these are not luxuries but just the modern world we live in? I am sure the Victorians did not think of a roaring fire in the lounge a luxury but maybe the 7 year old going up the chimney to clean it was
I do think the EHU tripping and running out of water is generally a newbie issue especially where a site only supplies 6 or 10 amps instead of the usual 16 and the naivety of thinking they have a 200l tank of hot water in the van?

Agree, we live differently now. But we pay the price, hook up and enjoy, happy to pay whatever it costs, and thankfully most of us touring can do so. But being able to cope with less is a habit with us, we manage perfectly well by choice on a 6amp site, and take advantage of cheaper prices. Our outfits are old, so we don’t have all the gadgets, but they are very well built, well insulated. Better than a tent😂 But Club Sites are a haven for profligate electrical consumption, we are as guilty as anyone else.
Newbies either learn quickly, or they give up the dream. The wise ask for and accept help and go on to have a great time. We have all been there. 😁

We do too, when abroad there is often a choice of EHU or not and we would generally not have it saving from €2 to €7 a night. We have a solar panel, refillable gas, inverter (coffee machine, bike battery, dyson battery and hair dryer) and most of our kit can charge of 12v USB sockets. We will use the EHU if included and take advantage to charge everything up but always have heating/water on Mix 2 as it is faster to heat up.

Hold on, whats the point of discussing Continental sites here ? thought this thread was about increases at CMC sites. Please keep to the point.
Hardly any campsites in the UK have less than 10 amp EHUs and all club sites have 16amp. As it should be. Either 16amp or no EHU.

I think most of on here remember a certain person who used to live in his caravan all year round on club sites.
In summer it used to be the aircon on 24/7 in winter it was the alde heating banging away 24/7.
Not to mention the kitchen in the awning with electric cooker and oven + awning heater.
The latest to be added was an electric car.
IF all members were to consume these vast amount of electric then the site system would surely trip, and prices would rocket.
We tour all year round yet rarely require the heating on any higher than the lower setting of 1 kw same for hot water eco setting most often used. Yes if it really cold we may put it on the higher setting to 'heat' up, then drop it to the lower setting.
We also travel overseas where it can be as low as 6 amps, takes a few 'mistakes' to focus the mind but it can be done.

We use a few 6amps, and plenty of 10amps, without issues as well. If you ration something, folks either learn to share, or they move on. We have shared CLs with the odd greedy/unthinking Member, who have tripped out whole site more than once in a night. They often don’t understand how a lower ampage works, and either adjust accordingly, or move on to a more suitable Site.
Classic example were two brothers in a brand new big van. They were using a domestic kettle, had the heating on full, and weren’t carrying a gas bottle, but using the electric hot plate. A large TV, and a Glade Plug In completed their essentials. Electric was off three times in two hours, other visitors fed up, CL owner tearing hair out. They moved next day onto a big Site close by, but were still tripping bollards there (our friends were over on Site, we tipped them off) Either numpties or greedy.

The way things are going, with mostly diesel engines being used for towing and motorhomes, the art of this type of enjoyment will be non existent, unless the manufacturers come up with vehicles that will fit the bill! So price increases is the least of our worries...
