I do hope you do not have any need to make an insurance claim, but if you do via Towergate it will be interesting to have note of your experience(s), the reviews for Towergate on Trustpilot do not look that great undecided, but i suppose you pay your money and take your chance.

just in case you missed this, as seen for Towergate on Trustpilot Oct 2019

    quote

Auto renew on caravan insurance lifted the premium by 50% per month even though there's have been no claims made. Phoned and given load of waffle. Instructed that auto renew be switched off and will shop around on next renewal. Yet another example of company taking advantage of existing customers who have placed their trust in being treated fairly unquote

So true it may be "cheaper?" but it pays to look at the reviews these days as one of the only possible ,at times, the up side of the tinternet

interesting in this post just how many people put their trust in the ombudsman to settle a dispute, below is just one of many instances that i have found where the ombudsman appears to be totally inadequate

    quote

11 MONTHS ON!! STILL TRYING TO GET CLAIM SORTED with the Financial onbudsman unquote

has anybody any experience in trying to settle via the ombudsman ?undecided Think i will stick with the club for my caravan insurance, not that the caravan itself is worth much now.

That is nothing to do with making a claim as it refers to the auto renew.  How many thousands did you scroll through to find a negative post?

BTW many years ago we had a claim with Towergate and no issue.  Also many years go a claim through the CC insurance when it was a proper insurance company and had no issue.

The current Caravan Cover is new and has no track record and by Rowena's own admission, it may not be suitable if people have caravans in storage or on HP as the CMC has not notified them of the unregulated policy.

However as you are one of the mainstays of CT and will defend the CMC to the hilt I will take a leave of absence for now.

check out Trustpilot you do not need to scroll through thousands

i dont think Rowena admitted it may not be suitable if people have caravans in storage or on HP, what she said was quote

Regarding the concern around acceptance of Caravan Cover by storage facilities or HP companies, the Club would be happy to pick this up directly with companies if there are any with concerns, as the cover should meet the needs of these companies. unquote

Glad you had 2 succesful claims by 2 different companies, interestingly there is a thread on Trustpilot that leads one to believe that Towergate were in the past a very reputable company, however, their standards would appear to have slipped

but as i said, you pay your money and take your chance.

However as you are one of the mainstays of CT and will defend the CMC to the hilt

really!!!!! very much a newbie i thought, and i think you post much more than me undecided

I always have my insurance policies on auto renew. I consider it to be sensible. An auto-renewal doesn't mean that you can't change company as I always get a renewal quote well in advance.

Any link? A lot can depend on the nature of a claim. Of the claims recently put to the ombudsman for caravan insurance 37% have been accepted and payment made. When you read some of the case studies it is not surprising that claims are rejected.

So if a claim that you believe to be justified is rejected who do you then appeal to?

For AD, are you tied to looking at the two Clubs for Insurance because of length of time overseas AD, or have you not looked at other providers? Just wondering, we got quotes from both Clubs, but ended up going elsewhere, mainly due to price and around transferring no claims from one vehicle, to another. There are just so many variables comparing policies.🤔

no link as i did not research any of the claims, just noticed several complaints on the review sites, i know you cannot be sure these are 100 pct genuine, however, 37 pct does seem to be quite a small percentage.wink

Not really small when you read some claims. They simply have not adhered to the policy in many cases.

     As per Rowena;

In respect of the issue with the email addresses the documentation is being sent from, we are working to change all of these to cover@camc.com; however due to the system update to improve the booking process some of these could not be done until that has gone live and bedded in. We hope to have all email addresses changed within the next few months and apologise for the confusion this has caused some members.

Surely email addresses etc should have been sorted out BEFORE the product was launched unless there was intention to perhaps mislead members?  Before the 12% tax the CMC product is more expensive anyway.

Also when discussed insurance with the CMC over the phone at no time was I corrected and told that I was NOT taking out an insurance policy and as said even when I mentioned insurance in writing at no time was I corrected.

When are the CMC going to get around to inform finance institutions of the new type of Caravan cover?  There only seems to be one main player so it should not be that difficult?  Again why have they left off informing these institutions unless the CMC are worried that the caravan cover may not be acceptable.

Then of course we have storage owners which is probably a different kettle of fish and more difficult for the CMC to make contact which is understandable.

I feel that in order to avoid issues why don't the CMC representatives make it very clear that it is NOT an insurance policy and is not regulated as an insurance product?

If I had known the above it would have saved a lot of frustration as we would have gone to another company and I would not be wasting my time writing this post!.

Don't be daft Surfer wink It is in the written details but if, when members phoned up to enquire or to take out insurance, they were told 'We don't do insurance we do an unregulated cover policy and may pay out on a claim; at our discretion' It could impact sales Surfer.

When you look to buy a caravan dealership staff don't say 'by the time you fit a decent size battery, gas bottles, water and waste containers and motormover you will have about as much user payload for two people as you would get luggage allowance for a 2 week holiday flying british airways.
