Dogs and Touring

50p would be a farce Alan, for charging to be worthwhile collecting, contribute to costs associated with visitors dogs and maybe concentrate the minds of those who can currently travel with any number of dogs foc its got to be more like the norm I see in Europe of around €5.
Indeed 50p would/should not deter site users from bringing dogs but would go aways to mitigating associated costs. I am far happier to contribute to play areas for children than to play areas for dogs but have no strong views.

You have to use the whole quote to get the context........it’s only those that offend against what’s reasonable that get penalised. Those who take account of others, don’t misbehave, try and abide by what’s right and proper (should) have nothing to fear. Public nuisance laws will defend the innocent from those with prejudices as well. Admittedly you get fools on both sides of the argument, but the law usually decides what is rational behaviour, in most cases. 🙂

Not a model that CCC are likely to follow I would think. I doubt any desire by the club to do so. It seems to bother some with regard to dog numbers but I wonder what they do. Do they seeks sites that ban dogs as I know of no UK sites that operate a total quota of dogs per site. I know that more than one limits to 2 dogs but doubt that effects the overall total greatly

Maybe the club, as so often suggested, should look at certain more enlightened commercial sites and learn lessons. One such site, often praised in this forum is Ross Park in Devon. Not only are dog owners made to feel welcome on arrival with a bonio for each dog, dogs are, I believe allowed in some parts of the bar/restaurant area (though we've never used it so I stand to be corrected.) Probably more important, at various points around the site there are poo bag dispensers and disposal bins so absolutely no excuse for not cleaning up. No need for quotas or limits, just an atmosphere which makes it easier for all owners to do the right things . Oh, and dogs are not charged for!

No apart from one dog regularly off lead that insisted on coming to say 'hello' every day. Not that I complained as he was a very pleasant lurcher. I'm pretty laid back about such things but some people are afraid of dogs.
And I did not get offered a biscuit!!

"Could we not just elevate "dogs" to the status of Politics & Religion and ban the subject from CT altogether.....
It would make for far less aggro"
nearly 3 months on and we are still banging on about dogs, its a bit like the dreaded "B" word just going round in circles and achieving nothing

It only gets stirred up when someone makes the occasional, ill informed, no factual basis post Rufs, then of course dog owners have to be told, instructed, re educated about how we are all anti social, uncaring, selfish and measures should be put into place to control us, price us out or ban us completely. Mainly because it works so well Overseas in the land of milk and honey. You know, that place we are severing ties with......
At other times, it’s a good thread for like minded pet owners to share good sites, nice walks, pet friendly places, and ticks along without much trouble. The Club is still thankfully an inclusive place, and recognises like other Tourism based companies just how important, and lucrative it is allowing members with pets to holiday in UK.
That’s not to say that a small minority of members haven’t experienced issues with pet owners, but that’s an on-site management issue, not grounds for banning all dogs or applying indiscriminate penalties either in the form of quotas, or via a restrictive pricing policy.

Well, pot calling kettle doesn’t begin to cover that.😳😫

Um .... where have I used the word "prat" on any post on any thread, Bill? (Don't bother looking, I haven't! )
I suppose you don't consider your posts to Tinwheeler this morning in any way sarcastic or ridiculing. (Probably not in "your world")

You’ve got a very short memory. Your comment has obviously now been removed, but it was a thread about removing trees not so long ago.

Most public sector Equality and Diversity Courses are very good. They often acquaint individuals with latent prejudices that they aren’t aware of, or choose to keep well hidden. It can save some from falling foul of the law, and if they choose to take on board the information provided, can make some individuals nicer people to be around, and work alongside. Never actually celebrated being on one, but quite happy to see all human kind treated with respect and understanding.👍

Excellent, sincerely hope that you enjoy many more happy years and tours.
But please lay off lecturing those of us who enjoy holidays with our pets on Club Sites, the vast majority of us just want to have a good time without hurting anyone else. 😁

laudable stuff re: the bonios and poo bags but i wonder why folk think its all right to (even want to) take a dog into a pub or restaurant...
i certainly dont want a dog ('well behaved' or not) adjacent to me while im eating, thanks...
despite what some think, dogs are not people....restaurants are for people to eat in, arent they?
what next?....the cinema? the theatre?.....having had the pre dinner drinks at the pub (bowl of water?) seems perfectly logical
as AD has mentioned, you get very little 'dog activity' at sites which charge (say) €5 a night....its a simple way to keep the numbers down and reduce the level of 'incident /discomfort' to other guests.
