But what has that got to do with a nostalgic look at past Tow Cars of the Year that we may have owned?

I used to like moving the caravan hitch over the tow ball with the engine switched off and then starting the engine and the back of the car rising up and clicking into place! Also when you needed to change a wheel you could just put the suspension in the highest position!

I had the 24 valve which could tow my buccaneers with ease at well over the english speed limit when on the autoroute!!!It was white and I had a yellow hi-viz hanging in the rear

Some of us towed more than just a caravan DK, hence my comment about waiting for LR products. I doubt we have ever owned anything that won the TCOY award, if we have it will be incidental. Maybe a Range Rover? We pitched our caravan up in all sorts of terrain as well, places where only a 4x4 would get you out. 😀
Guaranteed to have me throwing up a Citroen. Our friends had one, after first couple of trips out together, it was agreed we would use our vehicle.🤢😂 Decent cars though, loved the old DS classics, and the 2CVs, but they had real character.

Agreed. The latest towcar supplement praises the electric jaguar, as though it was the answer to all our prayers. Really? £76,500 to tow the lightest class of caravan 115 miles before having to stop for a recharge? the testers no longer have any credibility in my view!

I agree. The judges have taken leave of their senses! £76.5k to tow a micro caravan. There's probably more room in the vehicle! It certainly isn't value for money at over a £1000/ Kg. Also,it would probably take me 3 days to get from NE England to the south coast.
