DAB radio aerial
I want to fit a DAB radio aerial to my caravan . Has anyone any experience with this task and can a shark fin aerial be fitted on the side of the caravan or must it be on the top of the caravan.

Aerials on cars and caravans are normally fitted with a preamp to boost the signal so 12 volts will need to be in place to power them. according to the link below the telescopic aerial fitted on some vans works well on DAB

DAB is not like FM, you don't need a twig. Most aftermarket ones are designed to stick to the windscreen of a car in a set position using the A post as a ground plane. You cant easily replicate this in a caravan.
Putting it on the roof is the best option as a caravan is a big metal box, but the problem with fins or twigs is that they are generally for car roof not caravan roof, they are too short in the threaded section to allow a good fitment to caravan roof.
Assuming you have something for the TV already fitted then they have an FM feed (usually), and your head unit is active amp type so just try something like: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAB-DAB-AERIAL-Antenna-DAB-Splitter-In-Car-Radio-SMB-SONY-JVC-Pioneer-KENWOOD/292603042208?hash=item44208019a0:g:2yYAAOSwH71XOYmB
If you don't have one fitted then try something like this on the front window of your van or on the underside of your A frame plastic cover: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ampire-ANT600-DTT-DAB-Radio-Antenna-adhesive-waterproof-with-Fakra-plug-20dB/232594957077?epid=1033093833&hash=item3627bd6315:g:GPcAAOSwiBJaL9pY

Thanks for the helpful information it has got me thinking. I have ordered a splitter and if this does not help I might try the window type. However I would not like to stick it on a vinyl caravan window but when you mention A frame it made me think what about inside the gas locker as it would be outside the metal box and just shielded by a moulded non metallic body. I will report any success.

I think you will be wasting your time fitting an aerial in that location, you have not said if you already have an aerial fitted to the van,if it has then that will be ok as the splitter will feed the signal into both the Dab and analog parts of the radio plus it will have a preamp to boost the signal

I also change the radio to a dab
