Booking pitches

Not sure that I agree with your opinion, as it seems to put so many folk off, how does that make money.
If you (one) thinks about it logically, if as you say it puts so many people off going then why do many sites insist on it, it is not a good idea to have a business plan that will lose money is it?
I have no evidence to suggest it does put people off booking, do you? I suspect people grumble then go, are CCC sites suffering from low occupancy?

I went to C&CC Braithwaite Fold May 15th last year. It was full all the time we were there but with a minimum 5 night booking it would deter anybody wanting less obviously. Doubt may weekenders would say 'I only really wanted 2 nights but I will pay for 5 and leave early'.
I suppose that the thinking is stop weekend bookings and leave the door open for longer bookings
Some sites have offers of no real interest to me. Pay for 5 nights and get 7 is one that I have seen. I only want 5 nights when touring and so would not make use of the offer.

Research is key, it’s out there, where there’s a will etc👍🏻😊

5 nights on service pitches, high season only.
Sorry Brue, you are of course correct. I was there in mid May and it was only 3 nights minimum then on a EHU pitch.
The minimum booking periods were introduced for exactly the reason you postulate.
Indeed.
There are other opportunities though. THS: no booking, no minimum periods - just turn up. That caters for those needing 1 night o/n stops. CSs are also available.
I thought that we were discussing main club sites.

...That caters for those needing 1 night o/n stops...
or use CAMC sites?

But does anyone believe all that's put forward on here by "interested parties"? Being cynic certainly not me.

You've seen my image Nellie - do I really look that gullible?
I do believe however that with a non refundable deposit that there would/will be those that may well not cancel. I also believe that there are those that choose CC sites because of no deposit required.

No.
Both your other statements are very likely true, but there will be plenty who will not cancel on a whim or because of a bit of rain's forecast, once having paid a deposit

I suspect that few would cancel on a whim. But, have I have said before if going away just for Friday and Saturday nights there will be plenty who will decide that there is little point in towing 60+ miles each way, pay the remainder of two nights fees just to watch the rain lash down.
It is different for those whose bookings form part of a larger picture as in a touring trip.

For the last time (i'm getting bored now)
I have no idea why the C&CC + many others have this policy. If you are so interested why don't you ask them.
As to your last sentence, the evidence is from speaking to other's who are members/potential members/ex members, also if you read other forums there are many who say its off putting.
I won't be responding to your nit picking post again as I'm rather busy, I have my Mothers funeral tomorrow.

TG, I’m sure we're all making allowances for you given the circumstances.

I had no idea that you had suffered such a loss. My condolences.
