Booking pitches

There are things with this club that I disagree with but I don’t rip them up at every opportunity.
I have never used the other club so how can I post anything negative about them.
By and large I’m happy with the cc and the benefits I derive from them so have no need to join the other club.
If I did join and didn’t like it for whatever reason I wouldn’t run it down at every opportunity I would bite the bullet and leave

It's just the nature of some to moan, OP, but still stick with what they have.

Why do you want the club to follow others? Why not just use the others? Is it that club sites are so much better?

3.3 - So that we know you have arrived safely, all arrivals should make contact with a site team member so that we can welcome you and direct you to your pitch (UK CCC Club Site Policies)
I'm confused, that is from the CCC's own rules, Certainly happened to me with a warden on his bike (others have mentioned that too), perhaps choosing your own pitch is only done when not full?

Have you ever watch the U Tube vlog of the MHomer, think his names Earnshaw? Seem to remember every time he goes to a CCC site there is a warden cycling in front taking him to a pitch, I also think in at least one he said something about not having a choice

I'm with WTG on this one, we've always been asked first, where do we like to be, as in open, under trees, near the facilities etc. then we are escorted (shown) the pitches that meet our criteria. The choice has always been left to us. Once chosen we are then told where the water points etc are, then usually asked if we require any further assistance. Most then cycle/walk off and wish us a pleasant stay.
Last year we turned up at Moffat teatime on a Saturday, I went to check in like you do, only to find out I hadn't actually booked a pitch I must have looked it up and forgotten to finalise it. Anyway there was only 3 pitches left and they were on grass, not a problem said I. The site had one booked and 2 not. As we were already there we got the choice of all 3 grass pitches. I have never found the C&CC to be awkward or difficult in any way. There are good and bad in both clubs, neither is perfect but if you don't like something you don't have to use it do you?

The problem is that when you start to fall behind what the rest of the market does it is time for reflection at the very least. Whilst I stand to be corrected but the CMC seem to be one of the few that don't offer the ability to book a pitch surface type. Unlike not taking deposits it can't really be seen as a benefit. Earlier in the year the Club made quite a song and dance about changing or "improving" the booking system. We have yet to see what that actually means in reality but like Brue I hope it will tackle this issue.

I doubt it really since they will not take the word of those of us who do use C&CC’s sites frequently.
If only that courtesy was extended to those who use CAMC frequently?

has it happened once or every time (actually, is that the same amount of occasions?)
how many C&CC sites have you used...just the one?
WTG has described the process we have received accurately, with more pitch types on offer (and not wishing to confuse members) the wardens guide you to the correct pitches and then suggest one or offer others of the same type.
it may take a fraction longer to get to a pitch (althpugh i cant say ive noticed) but there are far fewer cars driving around the site at a typical arrival time.

apologies if you thought I was aiming that at you.

We have been members of C&CC for two seasons. We have used 12 sites. On one occasion all hardstands were in one area and the non-facility site was not busy. We were simply told to pick one in that area. No need to report which as the warden could see the area.
On two sites we were not shown options but were simply asked if the pitch was OK. One was and on the other occasion I said no as it is in full sun and I would like that one over there in dappled shade (very hot weather and I had been stood in the sun for 20 mins waiting for the wardens dealing with others).
The other 9 instances I was offered a selection.

Personally I’m happy with the way the club run their booking system, booked 2 more site for later in October with no problem. Grass or hardstanding no problem I will still enjoy my trip. I’m also happy with the price they charge and I’m satisfied with the pitching instructions.

As Brue and David have remined us, it was the club (Rowena?) who informed us about the new and exiting changes to the booking system a fair while ago, yet not only have these changes not arrived, we have no more information as to what (if anything) they might be.
we dont know if the changes refer to 'product' (new pitch types, pods possibly) which might be available to book (hopefully without member confusion) on this system or to 'process' where other elements (deposits, cancellation periods) might be included or modified.
all just speculation fuelled by a throw away line from the CM, and never mentioned again....
bated breath? not really....
just confused as to why something (fairly important?) like this would be mentioned and then (seemingly) forgotten about.
there has been plenty of opportunity in this thread for Ro to give a bit more info about what might be happening, or when, but the glacial rate of CC change is evident yet again.

At present, throughout the world, glaciers are "going backwards". Perhaps that was exactly what you meant ! !

introduction was dependent on new computer systems.
we should be safe for a few more years then?

I do not regard being 'escorted' to 'my allocated pitch' as a courtesy...indeed the very opposite. Being given the free choice of those empty. Within the type booked, Is True courtesy to me. And is the reason my membership of the C&CC is not being renewed. After 2 years of touring I would only recommend 2 of their sites, Poolewe and Moffat. Disliked their 2 nights minimum stay and £25 deposit required rules. Yes, we stayed at many others, but none gave us a discount for being over 65, which is on our membership cards. All in all not worth the Membership Fee. So just the CMC for 2020 and beyond. As we like their sites and the booking set-up.

Sorry W2Go, just saying it as we found it.
We dont tour abroad just in the UK, and have used the C&CC as an alternative to the CMC for 2 years, we tour to the Western Isles quite a lot, and never do more than 150 miles between stops, but found the C&CC booking system inconvenient and 'clunky' 2 nights minimum (on ALL sites we contacted AND £25 deposit required). Most sites never offered alternative pitches to the one directed to, even when asked. We are NOT lying or exaggerating, just our experience.
